8 to Infinity Upgrades Hosting Plans (May 2, 2007) - Singaporean Web hosting provider 8 to Infinity (8.to) announced on Wednesday that it has enhanced its Windows and Linux Web hosting packages to support PHP 5 and MySQL 5.
8 to Infinity is offering the additional feature free of charge and says it will be a standard feature on all new Windows Infinity virtual servers offerings and all Linux virtual servers offerings.
The company says it expects the take up rate will be high as many of the developers it hosts have already expressed their wish for the My SQL 5 and PHP 5 combination. This demand is expected to increase drastically as more and more of the popular open source software packages adopt My SQL 5 and PHP 5, says 8 to Infinity.
"The large number of open sources as well as popular scripts requiring MySQL 5 and PHP 5 results in many requests for 8 to Infinity to support these features, both in our Linux and Windows hosting packages," says Lim Boon Chuan, chief technical officer of 8 to Infinity.
8 to Infinity Extends Domain Offer (April 10, 2006) - Singaporean Web hosting provider 8 to Infinity (8.to) announced on Monday it is offering qualified registrants of domains com.sg, org.sg and net.sg to register the corresponding dot sg domain and vice versa. It will provide free Web and email forwarding for the second domain to the first domain.
The offer was initially valid from September 1, 2005 to February 28, 2006 under 8 to Infinity's regular specials offers. The company has recently decided to extend that offering to August 31, 2006.
"We are very encouraged but the response to our free domain hosting packages," says Lim Boon Chuan, CTO of 8 to Infinity. "We plan to enlarge our base of SG Domains under this special promotion and hopefully put SG Domains on the world Internet map. The extension will certainly play a part in this."
8 to Infinity will be offering another special discount price on the SG Domains for S$25 per year when customers subscribe to its two years regular special hosting offers.
Singapore Web Host Adds to Plans (February 13, 2006) - Singapore Web hosting provider 8 to Infinity (8.to) announced on Monday it has upgraded its dedicated hosting plans, more than tripling disk space from 80GB to 200GB and doubling the RAM per server.
8 to Infinity has also waived the setup fees for its Celeron and Single CPU P4 servers, while reducing Xeon dedicated server setup fees by more than half. The increasing volume of dedicated servers hosted by the company has enabled it to negotiate better pricing for its vendors.
Higher-ended dedicated servers including the new Dual Core and 4 Way CPU dedicated servers are also being marketed for the first time because of the growing demands of more sophisticated customers. Top-level Hotswap and hot spare dedicated server offerings are also gaining popularity.
"The continued decrease in prices and increase in capacity of the hard disk storage space as well as RAM coupled with our increase of sales allow us to negotiate better pricing for more powerful machines which are pass on to our clients," says Lim Boon Chuan, chief technical officer of 8 to Infinity.
