CFXHosting Launches VPS Solution (May 27, 2003) - CFXHosting (cfxhosting.com) announced last week the launch of a Windows-based virtual private server (VPS) hosting solution for Macromedia developers.
The CFXHosting VPS solution partitions a server into isolated, dedicated-like areas for each client. In this environment, clients have control over their own operating system, including remote rebooting capabilities, the freedom to install customer applications, and the ability to host additional Web sites and Web applications in their partitioned area. "The main advantage that the CFX-Advanced VPS plan gives developers is complete server isolation at a much lower cost than a dedicated server," said Mark Click, sales representative for CFXHosting. "Developers can be confident that their Web sites will not be affected by the performance of other sites on the server due to our server partitioning software. For example, one client can reboot his operating system and not affect the environment for any of the other clients on the same machine. This is of paramount importance for mission-critical Web sites that can't afford to have their site suffer due to the performance of another site on the server." The advanced VPS plan also provides Macromedia developers with access to the ColdFusion Administrator. "CFXHosting has always prided itself on providing unrestricted ColdFusion hosting to developers," said Dan Philips, technical support representative at CFXHosting. "Our Advanced VPS is perhaps the largest step towards this that CFXHosting has taken. Giving a developer access to the ColdFusion Administrator is like giving a car mechanic access under the hood. We are very excited to be among the first hosts to offer this." Based in Louisville, Kentucky, CFXHosting specializes in Cold Fusion hosting.
CFXHosting Supports Flash Server MX (January 17, 2003) - ColdFusion-focused hosting company and Macromedia Alliance Parnter CFXHosting (CFXHosting.com) announced this week that it is now offering support for Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX.
The solution, says CFXHosting, combines capabilities including streaming media, rich media messaging and real time collaboration, allowing developers to integrate streaming video and audio with motion graphics in a customizeable player environment. CFXHosting developers worked with Macromedia technicians to integrate the product in the CFXHosting server environment, says the company. After weeks of preparation, says CFXHosting, the company's developers and engineers are confident in the company's ability to deliver the new technology. "Our hosting platform was created so that new technologies may be integrated seamlessly," said Stephenie Hamilton, senior developer for CFXHosting. "Macromedia Flash Communication Server has been designed to allow developers to rapidly develop rich Internet applications. By offering Macromedia Flash Communication Server as an add-on to our Macromedia ColdFusion hosting plans, we can offer our clients a complete multimedia and dynamic website solution." While the software has already been deployed by corporations including Yahoo!, which uses the software to deliver streaming on-demand video clips, CFXHosting says it is one of the first hosting companies to offer hosting support for the platform.
