| hostdepot.com news | Host Depot Adds to Shared Hosting (July 1, 2008) - Shared web hosting provider Host Depot (hostdepot.com) told customers this week that it is expanding its shared hosting services.
Though prices will remain the same, the company said this week that it would be adding features, increasing storage and transfer limits and allowing more email accounts.
"In the interest of providing our customers with products that extend the value of our hosting solution," says HostDepot, in a July 1 email to customers, "we have implemented a product refresh effective today."
The email includes a number-heavy chart describing the specifics of the changes across the company's five flavors of shared hosting.
The $9.95-per-month starter plan, for instance, will go from 500 MB of disk space to 5,000 MB, and from 75 email accounts to 250. The $49.95-per-month Enterprise plan, by comparison, will go from 3,000 MB of disk space to 40,000 MB and from 500 to 1,000 email accounts. All the company's plans also see similar upgrades to email disk space, data transfer and SQL disk space.

According to the email, signed "Host Depot Sales Team," one of the main intents of the upgrade is to provide customers with a hosting solution that it considers "competitive," not necessarily an easy proposition in light of the overly ambitious price/features game played by some shared hosting providers.
Some in the hosting community are critical of the "overselling" practices that see many shared hosting providers promising far more capacity, transfer and similar features than can possibly be supported by on-site hardware.
HostDepot says the updated services came into effect July 1 at 12:00 a.m., and that any overage charges occurring in June were billed according to "current plan limits."
The email describes the upgrade as "just the beginning of a series of calculated improvements to come," and invites feedback from customers receiving the email.
Host Depot Joins RatePoint Program (October 2, 2007) - Customer approval program operator RatePoint (ratepoint.com) announced on Thursday that it has been selected by Web hosting provider Host Depot (hostdepot.com) to provide its customers with access to the RatePoint Consumer Approval Program, an interactive consumer feedback platform and quality assurance certification.
RatePoint says Host Depot customers can immediately take advantage of the RatePoint service offering through their hosting account control panel. The company says it enables businesses to manage their online reputation by easily capturing and publishing consumer reviews and feedback directly from their websites.
RatePoint then verifies actual consumer ratings for authenticity while businesses are given the opportunity to respond to feedback. Some of the benefits of this service include user-generated ratings and reviews, including improved customer retention and loyalty, better communication with their customers and increased conversion rates.
"Until now, small to mid-sized online businesses had no fully-interactive, hosted customer communication tool to help them compete with the resources of bigger companies," says Mark Erskine, president and CEO of Host Depot. "The RatePoint Consumer Approval Program levels that playing field by letting us provide the merchants we host with an affordable, easy to implement customer feedback program that allows them to boost sales and strengthen customer relationships."
RatePoint recently added 35 new Web hosting companies to its growing list of resellers.
Host Depot Offers adCenter Coupon (June 26, 2007) - Web hosting provider Host Depot (hostdepot.com) announced on Monday it has launched a new promotion designed to provide new and existing hosting and search engine optimization customers with a complimentary coupon for Microsoft adCenter valued at up to $200.
Microsoft adCenter is a platform that enables advertisers to create, manage and optimize their search marketing campaigns and target buyers from a pool of millions of search users on the MSN and Windows Live networks.
"We're very excited to be one of the first Web hosts to offer this Microsoft adCenter promotion to our customers," says Mark Erskine, president and CEO of Host Depot. "Microsoft adCenter is a valuable tool for anyone that wants to drive targeted traffic to their Web site."
The Microsoft adCenter promotion is available to all Host Depot hosting customers as well as SEO customers. The coupon value is based on the customer's current plan type at the time the coupon is assigned. A one-time, non-refundable five dollar activation fee is required to open a new Microsoft adCenter account.
Host Depot previously announced it selected Ensim Pro X as its automation control panel of choice for its hosting solutions.
