http://www.singlehop.com/about/contact_singlehop.php | singlehop.com news | SingleHop Adds Mobile Portal for BlackBerry (March 26, 2009) - Managed web hosting provider SingleHop (www.singlehop.com) announced on Thursday it has released a mobile portal specifically designed for Google's Android based phones, the most popular being the T-Mobile G1, and all BlackBerry devices.
Earlier this month, SingleHop released its SingleHop.mobi remote web hosting control panel, specifically designed for the iPhone, which provides dedicated server customers with administration functions.
As a result, SingleHop customers can now access SingleHop.mobi on their mobile devices from Android and BlackBerry phones, in addition to an iPhone.
This has lead to the development of products like LEAP where customers control their servers through a desktop-like web interface.
Using the mobile portal, SingleHop customers can control their servers and perform a range of functions.
This includes rebooting, viewing bandwidth graphs and hardware details, viewing current and previous invoices, paying invoices, or submitting billing questions, and submitting priority or normal tickets with technical support.
According to the press release, "LEAPmobile is the most robust mobile portal in the industry yielding a great deal of control to customers, and is part of a development schedule to empower SingleHop's users as much as possible."
"LEAPmobile allows our customers to have the same level of control over their servers through a mobile device as they would on their desktop through LEAP," says Andy Pace, VP of Operations at SingleHop. "Not only are we giving our customers tremendous control over our servers, we even give them control over which device they choose to control their servers from."
Barracuda Adds New Web App Firewalls (March 5, 2009) - Email and web security appliance developer Barracuda Networks (www.barracudanetworks.com) has launched Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, which secure web applications for enterprises and large organizations, including corporate websites and XML web services.
According to the company's announcement this week, the high-capacity Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, priced at $24,999 and $34,999 respectively, offer complete protection against common web attacks including SQL injections, OS command injections and XSS (or cross-site scripting) attacks.
"Over the past year and a half, Barracuda Networks has been successfully redefining the Web application security marketplace with unprecedented ease-of-use and value in the mid-market through the Barracuda Web Site Firewall product line," Barracuda Networks product management vice president Stephen Pao said in a statement. "With today's announcement, we are combining our enterprise and mid-market product offerings into one complete product line and bringing Barracuda Networks' ease-of-use and straightforward pricing to the high-end market."
The Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 can service up to 150 backend servers and up to 600 Mbps of inbound web traffic. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall 960 can handle up to 300 backend servers and up to 900 Mbps of inbound Web traffic.
Stratecast research director Michael Suby said that cost and complexity have been the major limiters of widespread web application firewall adoption. "Barracuda Networks successfully inserted simplicity and affordability into its line of web application firewall appliances aimed at the mid-market segment last year," Suby said in a statement. "With the Barracuda Web Application Firewall 860 and 960, Barracuda Networks is set to prove that this same formula can also benefit the enterprise market."
Barracuda's firewall applications have been implemented by many online service providers including management software developer SmarterTools (www.smartertools.com) and managed hosting provider SingleHop (www.singlehop.com), which have both integrated Barracuda's spam firewall into their email applications.
SingleHop Unveils iPhone Remote Control App (March 5, 2009) - Chicago-based managed web hosting provider SingleHop (www.singlehop.com) has released a robust and feature rich remote web hosting control panel, specifically designed for the iPhone.
According to the company's Thursday announcement, SingleHop.mobi is designed for SingleHop dedicated server customers give them administration functions on-the-go using their iPhones. SingleHop.mobi lets customers reboot servers, view bandwidth charts, submit standard and priority tickets, manage billing and view other server details.
"Our goal is to provide our clients with more ways to take control of their hosting solutions with SingleHop," SingleHop president and chief executive officer Zak Boca said in a statement. "Our iPhone web application is a convenient and intuitive way for just that."
SingleHop operations division vice president Andy Pace said the company will unveil a number of new features and enhancements to SingleHop.mobi during the first half of 2009.
While a number of other companies have created applications for monitoring web servers on mobile phones, such as Sukesh's open-source, mobile IIS 7 server manager application that launched last year, SingleHop promises a more robust and feature rich application than any other in the industry.
