Israel.com Sale Reports Found False - Domain auction house Moniker (moniker.com) has been working to correct false reports that domain name, Israel.com, sold last week for $5.88 million.On Friday, the WHIR published a report of this sale. This weekend we received an email from Moniker informing us that this was, in fact, incorrect and the domain name is still for sale through its website.In the email, Moniker's Ana Cano writes: "Please note that Israel.com has not sold, but is still available via sales@moniker.com or http://www.moniker.com. Israel.com Fetches $5.88 Million - Domain name marketplace Moniker (moniker.com) recently announced that domain name, Israel.com, was sold last weekend to an undisclosed buyer for an unprecedented $5.88 million. Moniker first announced at the beginning of May that the domain would be auctioned on its domain marketplace at a starting price of $5.5 million. The auction kicked off May 23 and soon ended six days afterwards.The domain currently hosts nothing more than a generic page with the Flag of Israel, a search engine, and several topic headers relating to Israel and its heritage, such as Hannukah, Kosher Vacations, Jewish Dating and Kabbalah, which direct visitors to a list of sponsored ad links.The Israel.com domain was originally purchased in 1994 by Joel Noel Friedman, a 46-year-old Jewish American who, according to auction website Auctioninfo.org (auctioninfo.org), registered it out of fear that it would be misused. JVP to Invest $350m in Israeli Startups - Jerusalem Venture Partners (jvpvc.com) said Tuesday it is initiating a $350 million fund for communications and Web startups seeking first-round financing, following a trend of investment into young Israeli companies. The JVP IV fund will provide approximately $15 million per company over the life of the fund, with investments ranging from approximately $5 million for a software company to around $10million to $15 million for large equipment makers. "Israel has great technologies and has one of the highest ratios of technologists per capita in the world," Glen Schwaber, a general partner with JVP's New York office, told CNET News. EDS Israel to Provide Outsourcing for ECI Telecom - ECI Telecom Ltd. (ecitele.com) announced yesterday the signing of a five-year agreement to receive outsourcing services from EDS Israel (eds.com/israel), a part of the Worldwide EDS Group. The total sum of the agreement is approximately US$80 million. EDS Israel will handle all the activities of ECI-IT, the company responsible for the operation and development of the entire information system for ECI Telecom Ltd. According to the agreement signed between the parties, EDS Israel will operate the company and supply ECI Telecom with all maintenance, support and development in this area in the future. ECI-IT today employs approximately 190 employees, 60 of whom are company employees; the rest are sub-contractors and external suppliers' employees.
