News of "Sri Lanka" in recent articles Ship Damages Sri Lanka Telecom Cable - According to a report by the HindustanTimes.com, an Indian ship, "State of Nagaland," that stopped over at the port of Colombo in Sri Lanka is being held there because the vessel allegedly damaged a cable and severed Sri Lanka's connection to the Internet when it docked.The report said the ship's anchor allegedly damaged the SEA-ME-WE III cable linking Sri Lanka to the Internet backbone.The ship is being held under a court order until the case, which is being filed by the nation's main telecommunications provider Sri Lanka Telecom (slt.lk), is heard on September 6, 2004.
