New Zealand Host Appears Offline - New Zealand-based Web hosting provider Waffell (waffell.com) has left customers asking what to do next after mysteriously disappearing three weeks ago following a 72-hour outage. According to reports on Computerworld, the company "seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth," leaving customers like Allister Jenks - who has six websites on Waffell's servers - utterly confused and frustrated with how the hosting provider has been handling the situation. On a forum discussion on Geekzone (geekzone.co.nz) Jenks explains that all of his websites went offline three weeks ago, including two commercial websites that he says he has been losing money on. And although he has contacted Waffell at the few email addresses listed on its website, he says the Web host has still not responded. New Zealand Introduces .geek.nz Domain - The New Zealand domain name registry yesterday introduced .geek.nz, the eleventh second level domain under the country code top level domain .nz. The .geek.nz domain will appeal to the techie community, but can be registered by anyone on the same first come, first served basis as all other .nz Domains, said Richard Shearer of FreeParking.co.nz (freeparking.co.nz), one of the country's largest registrars. FreeParking's price will be NZ$39.95 or about US$24 a year. According to FreeParking, more than 400 .geek.nz domains were registered in the first 24 hours of eligibility.
