1&1 Unveils Green Hosting Logo - Feb 1, 2010Company's customers can use its newly released logo to make visitors aware that their website is eco-friendly.
1&1 Internet Ltd, a web hosting company, today introduced a logo that its customers can use to promote that their website is eco-friendly. The company explains that recent study released by it found that half of British shoppers now look for 'green' credentials when choosing online retailers. The survey of 1500 consumers found that 59 per cent of consumers are more likely to buy if a retailer uses eco-friendly practices such as recycling and using renewable energy. The data also revealed that 1 in 4 consumers now expect retailers to use eco-friendly services across their operation as well as recycling and reducing physical waste.
It states that the use of renewable electricity to power their website is viewed as important as using less polluting vehicles. 37 per cent of Britons now expect online shops to reduce their environmental impact to the same degree as high-street stores. It further states that it encourages customers to join its green movement by using the logo on their website. In such a way, consumers can be made aware that the website owner is committed to lowering their environmental impact from their technical infrastructure upwards.
The company adds that the "Green Hosting Logo" can be downloaded from the Marketing Tools section of the 1&1 Customer Control Panel. It claims that its green-hosting efforts will offset emissions of over 30,000 tons of CO2 per year.
