Ultraspeed Deploys 3PAR InServ F-Class Storage Server - May 17, 2010Company's cloud-agile partner builds energy-efficient and carbon-neutral datacenter in Amsterdam with 3PAR Utility Storage.
3PAR, a provider of utility storage, announced today that UK managed hosting provider and 3PAR Cloud-Agile partner Ultraspeed, has deployed the 3PAR InServ F-Class Storage Server in its new carbon-neutral datacenter in Amsterdam. The company says that this new remote datacenter is a global Internet interconnection hub that uses leading-edge technologies and runs solely on renewable energy. It adds that Ultraspeed also stated plans to introduce new disaster recovery services as part of its 3PAR Cloud-Agile: assured offerings, which leverage 3PAR Utility Storage and 3PAR Remote Copy for cloud-based disaster recovery.
The company explains that Ultraspeed now replicates data from the 3PAR InServ at its primary London datacenter to InServ arrays deployed at its Amsterdam datacenter. In addition to weekly off-country backups performed at no additional cost, clients have the option to purchase daily off-country backups for all or select virtual machines (VMs) hosted by Ultraspeed. It further explains that Ultraspeed is planning to launch additional disaster recovery-as-a-service offerings based on its 3PAR Utility Storage infrastructure, including the ability to bring up servers in Amsterdam within 45 minutes of a disaster resulting in a total site outage at its primary London datacenter.
The company states that Ultraspeed is renowned for its highly virtualized Diskless Infrastructure, which is based on the managed service provider's Diskless platform. The Diskless platform is specifically designed to enable customers to deploy multiple virtual servers on each physical server and is a compilation of horizontal best-of-breed architectures, including 3PAR Utility Storage. It further states that this Diskless platform provides end users with the ability to deploy and manage their diskless servers, connecting to a highly virtualized and centralized 3PAR InServ Storage Server in real time, without the limitations experienced with physical disks.
