Newtek Integrates Microsoft's Web App Gallery

Customers can now easily install over 20 free PHP and ASP.NET-based applications.

Newtek Web Hosting, the technology services division of Newtek Business Services, Inc., yesterday announced that it has added the Microsoft Web Application Gallery to the list of tools available within the WebControlCenter, their account management application. The company mentions that the Web App Gallery is included for all shared hosting plans hosted on the Windows Server 2008 and IIS7 platform and provides users with easy installation of over twenty popular PHP and ASP.NET-based web applications.

It articulates that Microsoft's Web App Gallery includes widely used blogging platforms, content management systems, photo galleries, tools, and forum software. And with a 1-click, or near 1-click, installation process for all included apps, users can quickly and easily install the applications of their choice and have them online and fully operational within a few short minutes.

The company avers that its Web App Gallery tool is included free on all new ASP.NET and ColdFusion 9 hosting plans, which are both hosted on Microsoft's latest web platform, Windows Server 2008. It adds that some of the applications included in the Web App Gallery, and supported by the company, includes WordPress, DotNetNuke Community Edition, Acquia Drupal, Umbraco CMS, phpBB, and Gallery Server Pro to name a few.
