0. Introduction.
Ugh. Here I am, in bed with a cold and a sore throat, no more than three
inches from death, and it's time once again for the HAPPY DREAMHOST
NEWSLETTER! My timing for getting sick couldn't be worse, since I don't
know if I'm going to be able to go out for tricks or treats tonight like
this. Why today God, why? I think I'm also in somewhat of a delirium
from the sickness. I noticed my short term memory is all messed up and
I've been repeating myself a lot. And the worst thing is I don't know if
I'm going to be able to go out for tricks or treats tonight like this.
Maybe that's for the best, since I was pretty much at a loss for a
costume anyway. I had gotten my dog a clown outfit but he hates it, so
I think I was just going to wear that. He likes my Danny Ainge jersey
though so I guess he was going to be teen wolf. And I'd have been clown
dog. But now the only thing I'm going to be is mister crazy lying in his
own snot rags loser. And the worst thing is I don't know if I'm going to
be able to go out for tricks or treats tonight like this.

1. New spam policy starts tomorrow!
As I think I mentioned last newsletter, our new spam policy at:
http://www.dreamhost.com/spam_new.html
goes into effect tomorrow, November 1st! The main thing this means is
I'm not going to be able to go out for tri.. uh sorry .. the MAIN thing
this means is that ALL subscribers to announcement lists are going to have
to confirm their opt-in. So, whenever you add a bunch of people through
the web panel, it'll help you email them to double-check they really
want to get your newsletter. And whenever anybody subscribes from your
web site, they'll get an email confirming their opt-in as well.
This is super because it means no more prank subscribing somebody else
to an announcement list just because they were giving out mentos instead
of candy corn. It also means ain't nobody going to be able to accuse
DreamHost or you, our Happy Customers, of spamming! Well, they can still
accuse all they want, but we'll know when and from what IP they opted-in
to your list. BUSTED.
Man I love candy corn. I wish they would make candy corn on the cob.

2. Plan upgrades for all Monday!
Some of you might remember (I don't) that we had some kind of three day
sale or something for new customers back in September or sometime. I
think some of our Happy DreamHost Customers got a little bit Un due to
the fact it was only for new customers and not those who'd been with us
through thick and thin and made us what we are today! I know it wasn't
like us to dis you guys like that, but we were a bit sore about you all
giving us mentos instead of candy corn. So now we're even.
But actually, I do love candy corn. And that sale, I heard, was mostly
a form of sneaky-deaky "market research" and we found out a lot of
really useful information from it. Like uh we gave away too much!
However, we're still going to be upping all our hosting plans a
significant chunk come Monday (November 3rd), and this time, ALL our
existing customers (well, not you lucky SOBs who got that sale) will be
automatically given all the new features at no additional cost!
What are those features? Well, it varies by plan but mostly a lot
more disk space, a lot more bandwidth, and a lot more users, and a lot
more domains for all. Zowee Woweee. How's that for a treat? So no TPing
DreamHost headquarters please. Or you'll have teen wolf to contend with.

3. New Remap Sub-dir panel Today!
Hey, if you go to the web panel right now and click on the domains tab
you'll see a new "Remap Sub-dir" sub-tab that just mysteriously
appeared! Spooky. Must be halloween daemons.
What is that thing? I forget. But try it out and maybe I'll remember:

I say special because it's this month's and this month is now. I'm sorry
that didn't make much sense, I think it's the NyQuil talking. How was I
supposed to know NyQuil was for night time and DayQuil was for day time?
They should have a label or something.

So, I looked at Penelope's site and it is very nice. She is an

go out for tricks or treats tonight like this.
