Web Host C I Host Sells Shared Hosting to X7 - Web hosting provider C I Host (www.cihost.com) announced on Tuesday it has sold its shared web hosting business to X7 Hosting (www.x7hosting.com), a web services provider operated by Hostopia (www.hostopia.com). Just less than a year ago, Hostopia itself was acquired by Deluxe Corporation for about $124 million Canadian. According to the press release, the sale allows CI Host and Cassiopeia Internet to "focus on their managed, dedicated and colocation hosting for their mid and large market enterprise customers while ensuring improved services for the accounts to be acquired by X7 Hosting." C I Host, which celebrates its 13th year in the industry next month, has traditionally focused on the small and medium business market. However, with the return of company co-founder Erin Bullock in August as executive director of business development, C I Host has made significant changes to its business strategy, concentrating more on the enterprise market. "We believe that focus and specialization is a key factor of success in the hosting marketplace," says Chris Faulkner, founder and CEO of C I Host. "Our company growth and operational expertise has moved towards the mid-and large market services." Along with this focus on mid-and large market services, C I Host plans to refine its customer services, including the introduction of dedicated sales and support teams to better meet the needs of customers. Additionally, C I Host has also signed a marketing agreement with X7 Hosting to refer new small business users interested in shared hosting and related services to the X7 Hoisting service. According to the X7 Hosting website, which currently offers an FAQ page addressing the acquisition, existing customers of C I Host will see no visible changes to their accounts during the migration. Starting April 1, X7 Hosting customers will be able to login to their new X7hosting.com control panel and access their email via webmail. The Dallas/Fort Worth-based C I Host recently expanded both its corporate office and data center space. In October, the company leased 60,156 square feet in two buildings in northwest Dallas for a new corporate office and data center location. November 17, 2009 Disgusted ( disgusted@c... ) | This activities company are absolutely CRIMINAL. If you're looking for a host do not even consider them. If you are using them be sure to retrieve a copy of your data before canceling. They are currently blackmailing me into renewing our contract by withholding access to our data and our client data on our dedicated server. All attempts to cancel aren't acknowledged. The WORST company I ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

I left them almost 2 years ago. I cancelled every way I know how, and they are still saying I owe. I don't have time to fight this.

December 1, 2008 Sean ( -no email- ) | I signed up for hosting with CI Host in the first qtr of 2003 through mid 2006. I had many accounting issues with CI HOST, but thats another complaint.
I received a collection notice from ESCALLATE for service in April 2003. The funny thing is that CI HOST did direct billing from my bank account until 2006 with everything paid in full when we left CI HOST.
When we call ESCALLATE, they say we need to talk with CI HOST and the $50 will go on my credit report if I don't pay now.

It took several hours just to figure out what was going on. The lower end techs were locked into the building and given a statement to read to the thousands of callers that was a flat out out lie! Our experience with CI Host has been nothing short of HORRIBLE. We opted for a 3 months trial hosting but our site never got off the ground. CI Host’s server was down frequently and someone dropped the ball at CI Host and never activated our site while we were being billed for the service.

On all 4 occasions, I identified that the site was down, not CIHOST. This begs the question: How many times has the site been down and I did not notice?
It is hosted in Los Angeles on a Linux server. It usually takes a few minutes to get thru on the phone, and a few minutes after that the site is back up. In addition, I have noticed very slow service at times.

We had a dedicated server for 1 year and the service was just ok, 4 processors, 4GB RAM, 3x120GB HD, USD$6721 and the service was just ok. Now it's a different story. I've had 4 outages just this year. Two of the outages were 72+ hours.
Their tech support is young, rude, inexperienced. Their admins are worthless. Usually if there is a problem I have to tell them how to fix it. They're too busy playing xbox games to help customers.

As time went on, I started hearing complaints from our 12 person staff that it seemed we were losing a lot of email on the outgoing side. Hmmmm....

The company had charged for two years when the site said it was a one year charge. So maybe some oversights on the dev team. The package was the Shared Linux starter.
