FatCow utilizes two data centers in the Boston, MA area. Combined, they occupy over 2400 square feet of space, comprised of over 800 Servers and half a Petabyte of storage. Each center is equipped with:

and have the same network architecture and equipment.
Our solid, secure network infrastructure is comprised of a pooled server environment, which gives virtually any server on our network the ability to access Web site files when a request occurs. This means that the first machine available will be the one to serve a customer's Web pages, giving our customer sites faster loading times and fewer service interruptions than traditional hosting infrastructures.
Our front-end network consists of:
dual redundant M7I routers
2 firewalls incorporating IDP technology cross-connected to the outside world with BGP border gateway protocol.
Site data is parsed by our dual Big Iron load balancers and is then managed by our DELL servers, which are split into application pools (Web, FTP, incoming mail, etc.). This type of architecture allows us to customize each machine to the service it performs, which means more density per box, and ultimately, faster and more reliable services. No pool lives entirely on one rack. Therefore, even the loss of a rack's switch or its power will not take that service pool down.
Our network-attached storage enables any machine to access a customer's data. Every machine is clustered with another identical machine that will seamlessly take over if the primary unit crashes. These units are also backed up to another set of storage units that have a mirror copy of the data in case of disk failure in the primary units. An estimated 5.5 gigabits of storage are processed per second through our servers.

OK ... as I read this site this morning, there have been five Fatcow users with criticisms since the beginning of the year, three of them finding fault with customer services -- out of c.42,000 domains that is not exactly a tidal-wave of fault finding. For this company (Batsford-Bear), and for the eight/nine/ten associates and clients who have changed over to FatCow on our recommendation (we are NOT signed up for any affiliates pay-off packages), we find FatCow provides exceptionally helpful, very, very uncomplicated webhosting for the medium-sized business ... and especially for the medium-sized, multi-client consultancy. It makes it simple (and inexpensive) for a business to look as-smart-as-all-hell in its e-performance and it makes it simple to keep in-house track of even the most-diverse e-traffic. It is, far-and-away, this consultancy's best experience of webhosting in 23 years. FatCow Integrates Google Custom Search - Providing Google's game-changing search technologies to their customer's individual sites, web hosting provider FatCow (www.fatcow.com) has incorporated Google Custom Search technologies into its shared web hosting services, making it easy for customers to incorporate valuable search capabilities. According to FatCow's Wednesday announcement, customers can manage Google's free Custom Search script directly from their hosting control panel. Also, for an extra fee, customers can upgrade to Google Site Search for enhanced controls over branding, presentation and indexing. runner2 ( leahrunner2@a... ) | They auto renewed my account even after I cancelled it several times. They will not refund my money. I have two other accounts which I will now be cancelling. The live chat is a Fat joke. They bait and switch by quoting you one price and then charging you for services you did not ask for and jacking up the price the next year for everything. This webhosting is terrible. They are doing this auto renew to so many people there should be a class action law suit!

They told me to give them another chance a week ago.
I went for it, got a new plan... they said they improved.
My plan was not set up within one day - I still have limitations (10 MB hdd space and 0.5 GB/month bandwidth) - the offer was all unlimited. Live chat and ticket submitted about this.
Two days after, another chat, they told me a ticket takes 24-48 hours to solve [...]

I was dealing with them, even have three accounts with them, but the moment their team couldn't do a simple domain name transfer I requested a refund. Funny how the loss of money made a fire light under their ass because they were able to actually do it by then. Of course now they refuse to give me a full refund as per their own terms of service. So now I am canceling all my accounts with them and will refuse to ever do business with them [...]

Rand ( randomla@h... ) | Not the worst, certainly not the best. My sites are monitored and I have had about 50 notices of temporary shutdowns of the sites. They are usually fifteen minutes or less, but I don't think this qualifies as 99% uptime. Attempting to explain this to their "agents" is fairly useless; they magically think it has to do with the cable company or some such notion. Companies would do well to understand that people can handle "I don't know" as an answer to difficult questions.

If your problem deviates from their script, they just start to repeat the same obvious solutions. My first support tickets from them were fine, but lately the service has deteriorated. E.L. ( -no email- ) | I'm using fatcow for 2 years now.. I have 4 domains, for 4 different websites on their servers. The only thing that annoys me is that the websites are loading very slowly. But maybe this is due the fact that I'm from Europe, and they are an USA company. Other people from US tell that they have a very quick load time..
The price is pretty ok. I never had to call the support team, so I have no experince regarding that. The uptime is arround 97.8%, not 99.99..

Customer service just don't seem to care, and the last billing they screwed up and I had to go though hopes to get it partially corrected (still not correct). At the end of my contract I will be transferring to another hosting company.

Before the trial expired, I discovered that their php has limitations that their technical people are too incompetent to fix. I purchased hosting and was convinced by a friendly telephone operator to also buy back up service (additional $12.00). After realizing that FatCow could not accommodate my server needs-- they recommended a "Sister business". I cancelled, but was not given a full refund.
