Netcraft Releases Web Server Survey - The Web has grown by a net 1.3 million sites due to 1.2 million Apache (apache.org) sites and half-a-million Google (google.com) sites, despite Microsoft IIS (iis.net) losing 60,000 sites, acccording to the latest web server survey by UK research and security firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). According to Netcraft's survey of more than 176 million web sites, the August study looked at the number of active and inactive sites online, the top developers. Of all sites, Apache kept the largest market share, accounting for almost half of all domains, followed by Microsoft, Sun, Lightspeed, Google and NCSA. With Apache and Google as the biggest winners, nginx (nginx.net) recorded the next largest gain, adding around 170,000 sites to its total of 2.4 million, keeping its status as the 5th largest web server vendor. More than tripling the number of sites that run on its web server, LiteSpeed (litespeedtech.com) showed strong growth this month. Netcraft reports that most of its new sites stem from Gunzenhausen, Germany-based Hetzner Online (hetzner.de), the largest host of LiteSpeed sites. Setup was confusing
Support was unhelpful and sarcastic
Billing - well, I was receiving bills for "windows licencing" several months after closing the account

Jens Holm ( Jens@f... ) | Hetzner.. When one wants to do the most by oneself.
I have a few sites on a shared hosting, and Hetzner does not oversell their servers. Their controlpanel is a bit strange and limited, but it does the job. I would recommend Hetzner it just works

Carsten ( mail@b... ) | I've run with hetzner now for over an year, i'll started with a webhotel, and then upgraded for a VPS. no problem.
Now i'm skipping the VPS, and go for a deticated server, and again the service is in top.
The support answers my mail with quiestions in about 15 minuts.
i can just say..
Hetzner.. No one i better..

R0001421077 ( akasha@g... ) | I want to say that seems that Hetzner is trying to scam us.
We are being charged for services now (April) that was canceled to 31/03. On their site says that have to cancel in advance of next invoice. But seems that have to cancel within 60 days in advance as they charged these.
I'd sent these items informations to Hetzner support since 02/04 and had no new invoice till now.
Today I received an email saying:
unfortunatelly we were unable to charge your credit card for the invoice [...]

2. I'm using it for shared hosting, thus I can't speak about the quality of other services like managed servers.
3. I'm using the most expensive shared hosting package (19.90 EUR/Month). And cheaper accounts for two of my customers.
4. Admin-Panel is clear and functional. The options let you define your server configuration just as you like it.
5. Good backup/restore service.

Michael ( michaeldom@b... ) | I use many hosting companies including: 1and1, Godaddy.com and serverloft.eu, but these guys are real amateurs comparing to them.
Tried to set up server with Hetzner, but took me several hours to deal with their administration and stupid bureaucracy.
Not sure any more if these people are hosting servers or producing snails, but anyways if you are looking for reliable hosting, just find another company.
Amro Diab - great review. Too bad I haven't read before :).

I then got a slightly more expensive server and the problems started.
One morning I found that the server was offline. I could not find an easy way of starting it. I logged a support call and they started it for me. I then released that it had been off for around 8 hours.
They could not offer an explanation and wanted to take the server offline again to run some tests requiring 8 hours. They could not do it during the night as it [...]

Fabrice Cunuder ( -no email- ) | I as using different dedicated server in France, Luxembourg. Hetzner have the best technical support, every ticket send is answered in less than 20 min.
The rescue mode offer an virtual KVM, very usefull.

hans ( hans@k... ) | Technical performance is outstanding, so is service and overall quality and up time.
Hosting now 3 dedicated servers at hetzner ( first 1 for 2+ years, now 2 additional servers DS5000. Using openSUSE LAMP.
The only deduction in Control panel ( customer login at Hetzner ) is due to the fact that the once registered credit card information can NOT be deleted by customers. That definitely is unique in the world and a most severe security issue needing to be fixed.
