INetU Earns Managed Hosting PCI Compliance - INetU Managed Hosting (www.inetu.net) has gained Payment Card Industry certification for its managed hosting.
INetU's network and hosting service was thoroughly examined by security auditor Trustwave, which specializes in the PCI Data Security Standard, and given a Report On Compliance confirming its PCI compliance, a standard set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council (www.pcisecuritystandards.org) comprised of all the major credit card companies to impose rules on processing cardholder data. Trustwave's report was approved by Visa, certifying INetU as a PCI compliant hosting service provider, according to the company's announcement Thursday.
While announcing PCI compliance has become routine among hosting companies, INetU's PCI compliance is different because its audit covered its managed hosting practices, while most others achieve PCI compliance only on a collocation service level. Trustwave's assessment process focused on the security of credit cardholder data, whether a hosting service provider has effectively implemented information security policies and processes and if there are adequate security measures to comply with the requirements to protect cardholder data, confirming that INetU operates under the best PCI practices.
"Our PCI compliance certification obviously provides a direct benefit to all of our clients hosting sensitive credit card data, but all of our clients gain the additional security benefits that come from the rigorous requirements in the PCI specification," INetU president Dev Chanchani said in a statement. "Along with our recent SAS 70 Type II Certification, getting confirmation of our PCI compliance is another sign of our commitment to helping our companies achieve greater success on the Internet."
As a sign of the popularity of its managed services, in August 2008, INetU completed the construction of its fifth data center specifically to expand its managed services footprint.
Besides being secure, INetU was also listed the most reliable hosting site by web analytics firm Netcraft in May.
