About Joyent
Joyent is a global cloud computing software and services company offering cloud computing solutions worldwide since 2004.
Joyent licenses its cloud software, SmartDataCenter, to service providers, like Dell and ChinaCache, who deliver cloud services to their own customers. In addition, Joyent runs an instance of SmartDataCenter for some of the most innovative companies in the world, such as LinkedIn, Gilt Groupe and Kabam.
Joyent is the only cloud computing company that has developed a complete software stack, runs a major public cloud on that stack, and offers its cloud data center software to any company that wants to build a cloud. Because Joyent’s approach to cloud software is completely different from that of all other major cloud vendors, Joyent is able to deliver unprecedented economies of scale and competitive advantages to service providers in the form of higher hardware utilization and margins.
Based in San Francisco with offices around the world, Joyent is privately held and backed by Greycroft Partners and Intel Capital.Website research for Joyent on January 28, 2011 by WebHostingTop
Zeus, Joyent Offer Cloud Infrastructure - Application delivery provider Zeus Technology (www.zeus.com) and cloud computing service provider Joyent (www.joyent.com) announced on Monday that they have partnered to provide a "more flexible and cost-effective cloud computing infrastructure" to their customers, according to the press release.
In November, Joyent partnered with Sun Microsystems to offer one year of free web hosting to Bebo developers for hosting their applications.
Zeus now provides its advanced ZXTM traffic management software within Joyent Accelerators - the company's line of virtualized servers that deliver a highly scalable and fast on-demand infrastructure.
Joyent Accelerators are used to power large-scale websites and web applications, such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
Zeus' software solution enables Joyent to provide its customers dedicated application delivery services, as well as the ability to purchase these services from Joyent on flexible contracts without having to pay up-front for licenses.
The solutions will be offered for free for application developers on a pay-as-you-go model, eliminating any business risks normally associated with hardware solutions in cloud computing.
Having dedicated application delivery services in the cloud also gives customers access to dedicated caching, application filtering and comprehensive traffic reporting.
"With our partnership cloud computing becomes a reliable and affordable reality for organizations of all sizes that are economically strapped, but require all the power of an enterprise data center," says Paul Brennan, CEO of Zeus. "Proprietary hardware simply cannot meet the dynamic needs of cloud vendors in a cost-effective manner. By working with Joyent, we now offer all customers powerful application traffic management services - something that will accelerate adoption of cloud computing in the very near future."
