More Than a Decade of Service. Countless Solutions. Infinite Possibilities.
In 1995, a financial information company called Bridge had a business problem: How to collect financial information from around the world, consolidate that information, and deliver it as part of a powerful trading system to hundreds of thousands of terminals. The big IT and telecom suppliers of the time could not provide a solution to meet Bridge’s requirements. So Bridge built a real-time infrastructure that extended to 45 countries and delivered high reliability to trading terminals at excellent price points.
Around the same time, DiamondNet was formed to fix the Internet performance problem by building a better Internet that avoided the public networking points that often got bogged down or targeted by viruses.
In 1996, DiamondNet changed its name to Savvis, and in April 1999, Savvis was acquired by Bridge. The combination of Bridge’s global, high-performance, secure private IT infrastructure and Savvis’ high-performance Internet represented a new breed of IT that attracted the interest of customers and Wall Street. Savvis made its initial public offering (IPO) in February 2000 and acquired the combined IT structure simultaneously with its IPO.
Since that time, Savvis has grown significantly, both organically and through acquisition. In 2002, when Intel decided to exit the hosting business, Savvis was selected by Intel to provide hosting and network services to their clients. In 2003, Savvis acquired the commercial business of WAM!NET and gained a significant footing and powerful application tools for the media and entertainment, print and publishing, retail, and consumer goods verticals. In 2004, Savvis acquired the assets of Cable & Wireless USA, which included 3,000 marquis enterprise customers, 15 data centers, and significant consulting experience from Exodus Communications, a Tier 1 backbone. Today, Savvis has over 2,000 employees and 28 data centers.Website research for Savvis on January 29, 2011 by WebHostingTop [provided by paid service from Alexa Web Information Service]| Contact Information | | Owner: | SAVVIS Communications Corporation | | Web Site Title | Enterprise Cloud - Colocation and Managed Services | Savvis, Inc | | Website Description | Industry leader in Enterprise Cloud Computing, Colocation, Managed Hosting, and Professional Cloud Services. Savvis to Host Hallmark.com - IT infrastructure services provider Savvis (www.savvis.net) announced on Thursday it has signed an agreement to provide an advanced web hosting solution supporting greeting card provider Hallmark.com (www.hallmark.com). Under the agreement, Savvis provides Hallmark.com with a managed IT infrastructure and web hosting solution consisting of virtualized compute and storage services and managed network and security services, deployed and managed by Savvis. Hallmark is the world's largest producer of greeting cards, with nearly 16,000 full-time employees worldwide and producing some 19,000 new and redesigned greeting cards and related products per year. Consumers can personalize paper greeting cards on Hallmark.com and use services to make greeting card sending easy, including reminder services and the ability to have Hallmark send the card directly to the recipient. In 2008, consumers sent more than 47 million e-cards from Hallmark.com. To accomodate this heavy traffic, Hallmark.com requires maximum uptime, particularly on holidays when transactions on the site are especially high, such as Valentine's Day. The greeting card company was looking for an IT solution that could increase control and reliability of its online business, allowing it to accommodate the significant dynamics in seasonality. Savvis' Consulting Services has developed a dual purpose IT solution for Hallmark.com that allows for "like for like" quality assurance and production environments. This includes the integration of advanced testing and development services from cloud tester SOASTA, enabling Hallmark.com to easily develop and deliver new products and services without the risk of business disruption. Most of Hallmark.com's business has migrated to the Savvis solution, including legacy applications and infrastructure. Savvis also built in performance-based service level agreements based on customers' experiences at Hallmark.com. "Leveraging our experience in IT infrastructure outsourcing, Savvis identified key insights to Hallmark`s business needs and delivered the complex infrastructure solution that Hallmark required for maximum reliability and end user performance," says Bryan Doerr, chief technology officer at Savvis. "We look forward to building a long-term relationship with Hallmark as a trusted IT services provider as their on-line business continues to grow."
