Hostopia to Acquire uplinkearth - April 28, 2008 - Web hosting provider Hostopia (hostopia.com) announced on Monday that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase the customer assets of Web hosting provider Luxomovera, which operates as uplinkearth (uplinkearth.com). According to the press release, uplinkearth accepted Hostopia's its all-cash offer - the amount left unspecified - on Friday and the companies plan to migrate around 12,500 small business customers from uplinkearth's data center facility to Hostopia's unified web services platform by June 30. The migration of customers between platforms and between facilities will take place in the shadow of bumpy integration efforts (of assets acquired by Hostway and Endurance International) that invited widespread and vocal criticism last year, and have left a bit of a negative association with this kind of customer integration in the hosting business. "We decided the market timing was ideal to transfer our user base over to a highly capable provider in the hosting and SaaS arena - one who can deliver the high-demand services our users need," says Michael Yablonowitz, president and co-founder of uplinkearth. "Hostopia's proven credentials and track record in migrating large numbers of hosted business customers made them the ideal choice as our chosen buyer. We think our users will eagerly respond to the many new upgrades and value-added services Hostopia plans to offer them." A privately-held New Jersey company, uplinkearth was founded in 1997 and offers managed shared Web hosting, dedicated server solutions, website design and marketing. The uplinkearth website says the company currently hosts more than 30,000 websites in 190 countries worldwide. Hostopia says the customers will continue to be served under the uplinkearth brand, which will operate as a managed service by Hostopia. "Hostopia's main focus is private-labeled, wholesale outsourced web services that we sell to Telco's and broadband providers," says Colin Campbell, CEO of Hostopia. "Acquisitions such as uplinkearth complement our organic growth plan by adding end-users to our unified platform and giving us revenue-per-user opportunities through the many additional value-added services we offer, such as fax-to-email and collaborative email with wireless mobility synchronization." They are the worst hosting company ever, and after reading the other reviews, I can't believe they are even still in business. If you are considering using Uplinkearth and want to know what the experience would be like, just hit yourself in the genitals with a ball-peen hammer and see how that feels.

November 19, 2009 Alex ( alex@u... ) | Terrible hosting! Our cold fusion hosting got cut off. They want $24.95 now for what used to be $4.95! There is no way they are worth that. Their interface changed as well. It's not even good enough for beginners. Also, they don't even have encrypted passwords to get onto the website interface! Everything is done in plain text, exposing every one of your passwords for the internet world to see. They were okay years ago, but now are nothing you want to be involved with.

June 23, 2009 Bernice ( carpathia9@y... ) | I'm done with them. I'm cutting my losses and moving my files. I've had countless virus on my pages which they blamed on me. They've deleted my files which had viruses and neglected to tell me. Now the final straw is that my ALL of my mail has disappeared. EVERYTHING. Nothing in the sent folder, nothing in my INBOX and I DO NOT download my emails through POP onto my PC, ...or phone.

They were requiring me to change my password so often because they kept getting hacked into, that I pretty much could never login without requesting my password via email. September 16, 2008 Pierre-Marie PELE ( pierremariepele@y... ) | I own 3 websites at uplinkearth. Technical support is awful, they don't answer to the emails, I lost a domain name today because they did not anything.
They charge the credit cards without authorization and there's no way to stop this (unless your credit card expiration date is near...).
Please don't trust with this company, it's a large robbery.
I opened also today a file at the Fbi Internet Fraud Complaint website and hope it will do something to stop them.

It took me 1 month of emails and phone calls , and blatant lies that I was being looked after by their 'tier 3 support'... They even tried to inform me, that they were not a registrar! crazy! The service has decreased to unusable levels. They have multiple times suddenly deliberately locked out the control panel without warning. Locked FTP. Turned off their phones (the CEO said this to me). They have been hacked at least 4 times. The email has a rediculous amount of spam it is crazy.
