I contacted their support, they were wonderful and getting answers and helping ease worries. The migration went fairly well since Gigapros staff had access to Westhost servers too. Gigapros server performance is excellent - the hardware they are using for the VPS machines are well specced, and appear to have very high performing disk mounted.All of the engineers appear to have Linux certifications and post the level of their certification as part of the signature, and will often pass the issue to other engineers if it is beyond the scope of their role.I have referred several friends to the service so far and all say activation has been approximately between 30 - 90 minutes. They advertised everywhere and I thought it would be a good idea to give them a shot but I was sadly mistaken. The initial domain registration went pretty smoothly, however it was all downhill after that. Their control panel is very buggy, even something as simple as a nameserver change wasn't possible. After you set your nameserver, there's no way to update/change it later on. Their DNS management is a joke and never goes through. I tried contacting support, after waiting five days they just closed my ticket without even replying. Now I'm switching to Namecheap and domain.com **still** hasn't transfered my domain, it's been over five days. Stay away. Far away. The only thing that makes me nervous about Dotster are all the bad reviews. But I've had no major issues with their service. Customer support has been fine for the few questions I've had and the knowledge base answers most questions.At some point I will probably need to move to a dedicated ip or server but until then Dotster seem like they provide good value. The control panel seems more intuitive than GoDaddy's for sure, although all the same options exist somewhere when you look. So unless something goes wrong in future I'm happy with them. All their claims and pricing looks great on the surface, all the right talk. Beware, once you get a lot of sites setup, magically there will be too much bandwidth being used. I mean, suddenly, out of nowhere it will shoot up and then they shut you off. That surge could be because of a bad CRON job, because two large backups tried to trigger at the same time, or too often... whatever the case, it happens all the time if you have a lot of sites with a lot of background operations going. Maybe you forgot to set the auto backup back to one week, or maybe it somehow got set to 10 minutes (which was what I was told, but I didn't do that intentionally, if at all).I think someone actually goes in and sabotages the usage just enough to put it over their internal trigger of 10% per client per hour, or whatever it is. And recently, another hard disk need to be replaced in one of the most important server. After 2 days waiting, I called their customer support. The answer from them is "You dont have SLA, when it is done, it is done.". It is a very rude and helpless customer support. In 2012, they removed backup space from dedicated server and sell it back to customer. The hosting price is the same as before. After being on hold for 36 minutes, I talked to this guy with a thick Pakistani accent who essentially told me I was out of luck. If you need something simple, Homestead is fine. But if you want something unique, you're much better off with Web.com or Set My Site. Homestead just didn't cut it. Limited functions, crappy customer services, and not worth the price. In direct contradiction of ICANN regulations, they will list themselves at the domain name administrative contact. Essentially, they are taking control of your name, and will do everything they can to prevent you transferring it away - unless you pay "renewal" or "unlocking" fees. ICANN does NOT allow a "losing" registrar to extort money to release a domain name for transfer. If you want to complain about registry problems, send a copy of your message to the "real" registrar, TuCows. HostPapa is NOT an ICANN-Accredited Registrar. I believe that HostPapa is a business front for TuCows who is an Accredited Registrar. HostPapa has "offices" in England and France so they can avoid taxes, and appear 'international.'
