Not only is website builder extremely quirky and inconsistent and full of program glitches, but even worse the tech support is the worst of any tech support I have worked with since my first website in 1995. 100% of the tech support folks speak English as a second language, and they typically don't understand what you are saying very well. HOWEVER, starting in 2011-1012, I learned that Fatcow is very TRICKY and it made me totally lost trust with them(1) when you purchased any domain with them and use your credit card to pay. Fatcow releases your information ( fullname and address and teletphone no ) / sell it to other search website. They do this so that they can sell you the "protection plan" .This is a very bad business model. You have to pay them so that they wont sell your information. TERRIBLE!In the privacy section, they said they do not sell your information but if you dont belive this, try to purchase a domain using your credit card, then in google, search your name you will get the list of all the domain you own including your personal information. Phone support excellent, fast response etc. etc. Once LayeredTech took over things started going down hill fast. Disconnecting my server for a full 24hours so you can truck it from one data center to another was the first major issue. Today I find out my Defcon Level 3 which I signed up for and have been paying for is now Layered 2 Level Support, this does not include phone support and many other things (so my phone number is blocked) and can not acces phone support. If I want to upgrade back to what was Defcon 3 Steve Anderson their sales rep told me it would cost an additional $174.00/mnth. I have opened a support ticket regarding possible spam being relayed through my server, this apparently only rates a priority 2, and they can take up to three days to respond or during the "Next Available Maintenance Window" So sad to see such a good company go bad. Stablehost it's amazing ! I am with them for over 10 month and had no big issues, just one related with the mysql server which was fixed in about 20 minutes. Their uptime is very good. The lowest uptime I had per month was 99,97%, which is nothing. Their support is very friendly, they are sending you notices when there is any maintenance and your websites will be few minutes off and even when security upgrades has been released for your CMS (like wordpress, joomla, etc) letting you know that you should upgrade. He also put the entire blame of my issue on me, attributing it to being a target for hacker attacks. I admit that this did happen, once. But well after other performance related tickets were submitted and I did quickly remedy the issue once notified as it was a security issue with WordPress.GreenGeeks is one of those companies where they will patch the problem for you and move on, but when you are completely dissatisfied, they fall back on their policy text to "divest" themselves of you. They demanded that I should upgrade. I reminded them that their linux hosting plan was unlimited. As soon as I got off the Phone. They just shut down my account without any warning. I lost all my files and lost all my client database information. I requested for it several times. And they told me it was purged by the system and that they can no longer talk to me. Since I was no longer a client of theirs. Besides there so called cloud linux hosting is sooo slow. They told me that it was my website script that was slow. not there server. BEST ADVICE TO ANYONE. The companies seem to be sistered. Their sales and service pages are almost identical, it's actually easy to confuse the two.EasyCGI is like talking to a brick wall. They don't seem to have any interest in making things simple or standard. My site's basic coding and dozens of application files had to be modified to suit their way of hosting. It is something to do with the paths through the server to my domain. I'm not an expert on that but that's why I count on hosting and tech support to be there.eg. I have the creators of a very popular server module telling me it's not responding on my site. When I had problems with the transfer, their support team were very responsive (like, in minutes!). After the initial issues (all my fault for setting things up wrong) the transfer of the rest of my sites was quick and painless. Since we have had our domain there, there have been many issues trying to get everything for our domain and subdomains set up correctly to suit our needs. Their hosting and domain control panel is rather featureless and things in their hosting department are always broken such as curl which was broken for over a year. When we needed stealth URL forwarding (though the option was there) the option in the panel failed and probably still does fail. We simply gave up on trying to use that feature because creating the workaround pages they want people to use was such a waste of time for us.Now, our website is pending new reconstruction because everything was designed to work (on our servers) with Netfirms domain registration and setup, but now that we have experienced these issues growing larger and not being addressed by ... So control panel says 9 more months to go, no emails to alert you etc and it expired last week. And that is with auto renewal turned on. Customer support is also extremely poor. They assume you are an idiot and give a textbook answer. You have reply several times before they actually read your support issue properly. Fix it? only if you are lucky. Control panel is very buggy. And of course when you can't do something such as pick and email address they don't listen. Do not use paypal as they set up a recurring payment and take money even if you turn off auto renew. Uptime is not so good either. Phone calls reach a constantly closed call center. My customers have been calling all day and evening to find out why their emails bounce back and why my site is down. The only time I had trouble with my VPS was as a result of me updating some software that had a conflict with pre-installed software. I think they were taken over a couple of years back and the quality of service has been in rapid decline ever since. They are reaching new lows.Amongst my grievances are:- The spam systems is pitiful and when you ring to complain they suggest that the mails you get for online doctorates and vialis are normal email newslettert that you have signed up for.- The online dashboard is a collection of bits some good and some bad but there isn't a connected overview of the parts you would need. For example the managing domains interface in less than intuitive.- Customer support. Forget email by the time it has been answered you could have learnt to programme, hacked the system and fixed it yourself. Recently I rang support as the webmail system was down. It was mainly engaged but when I did get through I was either hung up on (can you imagine how annoying this is?) or the operative just puts the ...
