Beyond a joke. I have posted the full tedious story over at avoid123-reg. A client lost her website and emails for a month because they failed to transfer the domain name properly. Consequently it was stuck in limbo with no way of access or retrieval.
The support seems to be designed to drive one mad. If you keep things simple they won't understand and return stock answers. If you try to describe everything in detail they just won't read it. Eventually they will turn rude and sarcastic.

I have been with easyspace for two years. Easyspace were trying to charge me £30 to renew my .co.uk and i got annoyed about this because they were charging new customers £9.50 for the same privellege. I contacted them and they assured me it would be changed but it wasnt and i just wanted it sorted so after paying £15 to get each of my two domains moved across to 123 i thought ok now it should be all sorted.

Since I registered my new ezine I have been unable to get 123-reg to generate the promised single page Instant site. It says it has but it hasn't. Queries get automatically answered, and closed, with the same automated irrelevant answer, regardless of the question. So I set up the site somewhere else and web forwarded to it from 123-reg. Now the web forwarding isn't working either. What a shower.

They have both been taken over by Pipex and from a reasonable company they have turned into compltly frustrating rubbish. Has anyone tried to forward email or get an email on a domain rejected..(If you get loads of spam it is very useful).

I use the basic hosting package, and can't wait to migrate to another hosting company - 123Reg are the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Thankfully, my other 2 websites have since been hosted elsewhere.
The 123Reg control panel is better than most, but when problems occur (and they frequently do), or you need to contact some one then forget it.

I have lots of domain names that i have with 123-reg etc. I renewed a .eu name and guess what it didnt appear on my list of domain names.
I didnt want to loose it at any cost so i spent three days phoning 123-reg.
Finally, on the third day after waiting for 30min i got through and spoke to a rep caled Ray.
I was told that the domain name had been paid for but it was in quarentine and i shall have ful access to it within 24hrs.

I bought several domains last year with the 123-reg basic hosting package. Have had numerous delays getting support.

First, they auto renewed a domain and hosting i did not want. The 123-reg renewal notices do not say you have to take direct action to 'allow domains to expire'. They do however ask you to take direct action if you WANT to renew. I presumed i needed do nothing and so i just left them. Next minute they took payment (my details are stored) and auto renewed both hosting and domain.

Have been trying to renew my e-mail defence that they supply as an extra to hteir POP mail boxes.
It expired on Feb 14, I had no e-mail warning me it was about to expire, their site says I have nothing that needs renewing, and no one at support or admin, or heldesk, or services or accounts ever reply to e-mails sent. Not even a reply from the support page.
It is now the 3rd March, and after 10 or more e-mails still not had a reply from them. [...]

I have had an Instant site account (pro) for over six months and it is becoming worse each time I log in. It takes over a minute to go from one page to another when I need to edit, Information is lost when a page preveiw is requested (make sure you save any info before you try a preveiw), it doesn't allow me to use bold to standard text plus a host of other problems. I signed up on Thursday morning (8th Feb) for 3 Domains and Instantsite and had similar issues as Nick - Published Site obliterated by someone's search drop down rendering the site useless and no access to the Edit page in Sitebuilder to even attempt to change it. Signed up for the InstantSite [simple website template tool] service on Friday. That's a bit of fun. Fiddled around with it for a couple of days. Nothing heroic, just choosing a template and seeing what's available. It broke on Sunday for no obvious reason. I can't get into it any more. I can't design my site. The site is in a preliminary barely-started state, it is published on the internet and I can't get in to complete the wretched thing. What a mess. Imagine my delight.

I've used 123-reg for many years, with little or no problems - indeed, I actually recommended them to many of my clients. However, last week, I attempted to purchase about 30 domains, totally £250. The site hung, billed my solo card 4 times, sent me one invoice, and didn't register the domains. Oddly, they refunded 2 of the payments, but I'm still £250 down, and the domains haven't been registered. Customer services doesn't exist - completely un-contactable. They ignore all e-mail [...]

We have a contact with plus.net for broadband, e-mail and domains names. its a good little deal very fast on the support, some times they go down, but there support is great they tell you everything that’s gone wrong on a stats page.

They are without doubt the most USELESS company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. There is no such thing as Customer service at 123-reg!
I have had numerous problems including a domain name that I owned being un usable for months due to their incompetence!.They even Lied to me on more than one occassion that transfers were in progress. They should take 24-48 hours but 2 months later.......nothing!
They also managed to put my domains in other peoples control panels.

Just found out that email wasn't working but don't know for how long, judging by the rest of the comments here it could have been for sometime! Don't have a high volume of traffic, so it came as a bit of a surprise!! Luckily somebody bothered to phone me when they received a bounce back, permanent error - or I might never have known.
I have used 123 reg for quite a while and have always been happy with them... but this email cockup is unacceptable... somebody from 123reg might have alerted [...]

I only use their domain registration and then set DNS to my servers, but contacting their customer services is impossible.
If you purchase a domain watcher there is no control in the control panel to set it up.
When contacting their customer services by email they never reply until about 2 weeks later, always claiming that they have had a high number of emails.
Most problems I contact them about would be very important or time critical (domain nearly expired etc). so end up having to [...]

I know ive hosted with them less than a month but i thought id give 123-reg a go seeing as i had a new website to get up and running for a local business and they were in the middle of their winter sale where domains were half price. So i went ahead and got a domain name and hosting with them which included 10+ POP emails whereas normally with my usual host 1 costs a tenner a year.

It seems to me the whole email system at 123-reg is failing horribly. I use rob@xxx.co.uk as my admin contact for 3 domains parked at 123-reg. My auntie uses 123-reg to host a seperate website, and any emails I send her from the above email address gets bounced EVEN THOUGH 123-reg use that email address to administer my account with them and send me notifications and updates, etc. They claim the email address does not pass their [...]

Until this year, support was great - a sensible reply to emails often within the hour. Nowadays, you're lucky if you even get an acknowledgement within a few days. On the few occassions you do (eventually) get a reply, it's likely to be useless (e.g. "Have you checked out FAQs" - YES I HAVE, YOU MADE ME DECLARE THAT BEFORE I COULD USE YOUR WEB FORM!)

I too have had fantastic service from reg-123 up until about 2 weeks ago when we started to notice e-mails disappearing. I wouldn't be so bad if it were all the e-mails going missing as we would switch to our backup solution, however we've now got a situation where some are bouncing back, some are being delivered up to 16 hours late and others are just vanishing (no bounceback, no delivery... nothing).

Similar to others really - started off ok at the beginning of the year but last couple of months have had several weekends where my site is unavailable. Since nobody is around there anyway on weekends you are stuffed - luckily I still have a w2k server around and can take over but of course there are delays whilst the dns change propogates.

Website has gone 404, cannot upload files from the 123-Reg control panel, cannot FTP to upload files. Tried the fault 'contact us' form and got no response.
Tried phoning the 0900 50p/minute number and after 5 minutes was told they ould not find the problem. Had one email to say problem had been referred to the tier 2 support team! Still 404.
I don't know if it is the Pipex buyout but service has gone right down hill in the past year. I am now well and [...]

I purchased a dedicated server from these crookes last month. It took 4 days to setup, not 15 minutes. Once it was online it only took 4 days for a fault to arise that prevented me logging in. Emails were ignored, and so I was forced to ring their 50pence per minute helpline. Everything was back up and running in a couple of hours. It was a reasonable service at that point I thought.
I resisted putting anything on the server for a week as I wanted to ensure it was reliable. Seemed ok [...]

I signed up for 123-reg's basic web hosting package and the server they placed my site on had a major problem. Every 15 minutes the server would be offline for 2 minutes. Another issue was the sytem clock was 10 minutes slow. I notified 123-reg with approximately a dozen emails, supports notes etc to various addresses but it was over a month before I got a response which hinted at even looking at the server. The service is now so unreliable I will be taking my site, and those of at least a dozen of my customers away from 123-reg to another ISP.
Websites hosted with them are extremely slow to respond, and on many occasions become totally unavailable altogether.

So I rang 123-reg up on their 50p/min support line and asked them to cancel it and refund the money as I had not recieved the service.
They told me that that would be fine but they would have to get a manager to call me back.

Domain Hosting seems fine if everything works first time but should you have the slightest problem then you can forget any support, They just DONT answer emails!

They're o.k - much better than some (Ahem - BISCIT, Easily....).
Only real problem i've had involves their 123 reg web forwarding and call staff not admitting the problem for several days - even though they balently knew about it as they had thousands of sites affected.

I concur with the prevailing views of others on this page.. I cannot believe how these guys have gone downhill in the past couple of years. They never respond to emails before five days have elapsed...their "email defence" mechanism - cost £9.99 - is still not working although I purchased it three weeks ago - none of my five emails on the subject were answered...They failed to alert me properly when my webhosting package was up for renewal (one email in early Feb - package expired mid [...]

Do not waste your hard earned money on such a bunch of losers.
My site is still down today as i speak after 4 days of trying to contact them.
They are simply not worth your time for hosting with them if anything goes wrong!

I've used their basic plan, all was ok until i needed some assistance, I have not been able to upload changes to site. They are rubbish rubbish rubbish, i've emailed at least 5 times and don't even get an answer, they don't care about their customers. do not sign up with this company.

I have used 123-reg for hostnames and used their web forwarding for a few years now with not problems, their control panel is fairly basic but easy to use even for the unskilled!
On an annoying side their email forwarding is not very secure, I have been forwarding to an email address that is not used anywhere only from 123-reg and I get spam on that address and from that address so it means some one has hacked them to get this email address as it is NOWhere else but on their email forwarding [...]
