After limping on with GoDaddy for month, fanually took the step of shopping around for better (which was easy). Then a brief brush with HostGator. But then, finally, found the better deal and equally good support and performance (compared to Hostgator, NOT Godaddy :( !!! ) in Arvixe.
These guys are just doing a great job. There is good performance on the shared plans. Their price is much better then HostGator, particularly since Arvixe has been doing ASP for ages while HostGator is only just [...]

First and foremost let me caveat this by saying I use Windows hosting for my ASP sites and the like.
Arvixe was one of the tops when I searched more than 3 years ago and had great pricing.
Their support is horrible! Their reliability is "adequate".
For example today I have two subdomains that are down - opened the ticket at 8:20amEST here it is now 7:55PM EST and no usefull response and my sites are still down!!
When you contact QA to give feedback of the support they do not help at all [...]

I'm quite sorry to hear about your issues, and after reviewing the ticket you submitted it appears that we resolved the issue by suspending an abusive user. Unfortunately this is the nature of shared hosting, while we constantly monitor our servers for these types of issues, it is impossible to prevent every such occurrence.

Per your QA email as well as the chats above, I do see that we've outlined the deficiencies within your VPS environment. Generally, memory runs out very quickly if your apps are doing a lot of hard drive input/output. In such cases, a VPS is certainly not the right solution for your applications. BIG problem is they only have SQL Express 2008... That is a huge drawback for anyone hosting a site. SQL Express is not acceptable DB in production environment.
Other than that the service seems fine... But I will have to cancel because of the DB.

The reason why we choose Arvixe, were the package & price that they offered. Setting the sites up in the control panel were easy enough. Once you go the hang of the names DNS etc. it was easy.
But as always, when dealing with computers, you mess it up. And this is where Arvixe is outstanding. The support service. You Email them an explain in you layman terms, what the problem is. They translate the problem into computer language and solves the problem.

You may get a slightly cheaper plan somewhere else, but support and speed will definitely suffer. I've even tried the "you get what you pay for" approach and went with Media Temple. I have used a number of other hosting services, but Arvixe is by far the cheapest, most reliable and has the best support. The only issue I have found is that Arvixe does not let you modify DNS entries to domains hosted by them. This is only a small issue. Arvixe was good but know that they have removed the backup button from the admin control panel that is a standard unix feature you have to just through hoops just to get a simple backup done. If you really don't know how to use the phpmyadmin then you have a chance of detroying your databases and your website at the same time.
The reason Arvixe gave for removing the button is that it was causing their servers to crash. I have 4 web hosting companies and all have the simple east to use backup [...]

I'm quite sorry about your experiences with us and that you feel an improvement to our service was a fault. Please let me outline some quick facts.
1) We spent thousands of dollars on R1Soft progressive backups on our servers to make sure that we have a backup system that does not hinder server performance (more info at www.r1soft.com). This was put in place months ago.

I ended up moving my DNS registration to Network Solutions, because at the time Arvixe could not provide multi-year renewals and had a weak renewal/billing page. As I have written elsewhere, the hosting service is very responsive and helpful, and the plan includes many valuable features at low cost. The excellent hands-on service and the extremely reliable servers are ultimately the most important things, but I like the reasonable price as well. It seems to me that the deal for the customer couldn't be better.

We've had a great experience with Arvixe over the past couple of years, for our synagogue's website. Arvixe has been consistently excellent, with incredibly fast customer service. The guys were very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient when I was learning how to administer the website. I had a couple problems that I couldn't resolve myself, and got great support every time, even when I was traveling overseas and calling for support at bizarre hours. Keep up the great work!

Plus, with that price you get Arvixe's tech support, which is the best tech support I've ever had in dealing with a web hosting company. All replies to e-mails were incredibly prompt (usually quicker than 24 hours), informative, and helpful. I highly recommend Arvixe.

I tried to set up a new account. Other than the auto-responding emails, I got no contacts from them (contrarary to what they stated on the website that they would contact me within 24 hours) and my account was pending for 3 days. Finally I chatted with their support person, the guy told me they were busy with security issues so they were behind. Security issue is an ongoing issue, they will always use that excuse for their slow response.

I'm quite sorry about the delay in calling you. Please take note of the following:
1) Your renewal date does not get set until your account is setup not when you placed an order. Therefore, the money paid was not "stolen" in anyway.
2) Our live chat response time is 10-20 seconds. Often times less than that.
3) Our average phone response time is 10-20 seconds. Often times within the first 3 rings.

Arvixe has been a great fit for me and my needs for over 3 years now, and I think it represents a great value. As my site grew and my needs increased, Arvixe has grown with me. I recommend it regularly to the point that a non-profit group I work with had their web presence hosted by Arvixe also.
Customer service is especially responsive, and I'm impressed that they can pull off that kind of customer service at the price point for the service.
