Easy CGI used to be a good company. I had used them for years and years. In fact, I used to work for them! They had recently sold the company to another company, and since then, nothing has worked for me.
I have multiple domains hosted with them. Multiple email accounts, and have had nothing but trouble with them since the switch.
After about a week of back and forth over the phone, I finally got my email working again. My websites? Not so much. I've been having trouble for months since the switch, 99.9% uptime is incorrect. 99.9% downtime IS correct.
They felt that "my issue" was something that was simple and could be taken care of at their leisure. This was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. One of the websites that is not working (none of them are, but the important one) is a website put up to memorialize my sister who had been killed in a car accident a few years back. I explained repeatedly how important it was to get the site up and running, as the anniversary of her death was today, and this had no meaning for them. I was put through the usual "I understand sir" and "we will see what we can do" talk, but they did nothing that actually helped.
I was told that the problem was on the web server. Which I knew. I was told that the problem would have to be fixed on the web server directly. Which I knew. I was told that this could only be done with someone sitting directly in front of the web server, and could not be done without remote access. Which I know is NOT true.
First, I know for a FACT that you can remotely administer web hosting services. From experience, and from common sense.
Second, you CAN NOT tell me that they don't have that ability set up. If they had a really big client, and their site went down, they aren't going to tell them, sorry, we'll have to wait until someone can actually sit in front of the machine to fix your issue. If that is the case, that just gives even more reason that they should not be used for a hosting company.
I spoke with a supervisor who blew me off as if I was someone who had no idea what they were talking about, and just another number in their client list. I was told that she was the only person I could speak with above the normal phone support team. I realize that, when all is said and done, that's really all I am to them - a number. A client that provides them with revenue. But when I call with a problem - especially one of this magnitude - it NEEDS to be addressed as SOON as possible. IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner.
This information was not given to be a sob story, or to make you feel bad for me. It is for you to see that this company cares more for its income than it does for it's customers and their satisfaction.
I will be switching my hosting company as SOON as I possibly can. I'm guessing that pretty much anyone would be better than these guys are now.
