First IDN ccTLDs Requests Pass String Evaluation - Egypt, the Russian Federation, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia applied for ccTLDs in their respective written languages, and they have passed the string evaluation. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), today announced the successful completion of the IDN ccTLD Fast Track String Evaluation for four (4) proposed IDN ccTLDs. The company says that the requests are associated with: Egypt, the Russian Federation, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Details of the successful evaluations are provided here.It further states that the IDN (Internationalised Domain Name) ccTLD Fast Track Process was approved by the ICANN Board at its annual meeting in Seoul, South Korea on 30 October 2009. ICANN Announces Availability of IDN ccTLDs - Facilitates easier access to the Internet for users in the Middle East, with the ability to use their primary language for the entire domain name. Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the not-for-profit organization dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable, announced that for the first time in the history of the Internet, non-Latin characters are being used for top-level domains.
