Latest webhosting industry news about Ghana Nii Quaynor Awarded Postel Award 2007 - MARINA DEL REY, Calif.: Former ICANN Board member Nii Quaynor has received the Internet Society's Jonathan B. Postel Service Award, better known simply as the Postel Award, for his pioneering work in Africa. Dr Quaynor received the award on stage from Internet Society (ISOC) president Lynn St. Amour at the 70th Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting in Vancouver on 5 December for his "leadership in advancing Internet technology in Africa and galvanizing technologists to improve Internet access and capabilities throughout the continent." The annual award is named after Internet pioneer and stalwart Dr. Jonathan B. Postel. There have been 10 recipients of the award since 1999, and the award is designed to honor those that have made outstanding contributions in service to the data communications community. Verizon Business Partners with Gateway Business Africa - Partnership allows the company to expand global IP network reach in African countries. Verizon Business, a provider of communications and IT solutions, today announced a new network alliance with Gateway Business Africa, a provider of pan-African corporate connectivity and telecommunications, that will expand its Private IP network capabilities in several African countries.The company states that the agreement allows it to leverage Gateway Business' network presence and extend coverage of the its multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network to an additional 14 pan-African countries by using interconnection points between the companies' networks. The MPLS network gives customers a scalable and flexible cross-continent IP business communications platform for continued growth and global reach.
