ICANN Formalizes Relationship with ccTLD Manager for Belgium - ICANN has announced today that it has signed an exchange of letters with the country code top level domain (ccTLD) manager for .be--Belgium, DNS BE.The Accountability Framework program provides two mechanisms by which ccTLD managers can formalise their relationship with ICANN. The first is an Accountability Framework document that sets out the obligations of a ccTLD manager and ICANN. It also covers dispute resolution and termination and is designed for ccTLD managers requiring a formal document with ICANN. The second mechanism is an exchange of letters between ICANN and the ccTLD manager designed for those for whom a simple statement of commitment is more appropriate. KBC Arkiv Expands LCL Belgium Data Center - KBC Arkiv (www.kbcarkiv.be), the joint subsidiary of KBC Private Equity and Arkimedes, announced on Friday it is investing $1.9 million to expand the LCL Belgium's (www.lcl.be) Diegem data center. The data center will be renovated and extended to form a completely new data center, and is expected be operational in the second half of 2009. The new Diegem data center will enable LCL Belgium to meet the growing demand from existing and new customers. "It is partly thanks to the support of KBC Arkiv that LCL Belgium can expand the capacity of its data center," says Laurens van Reijen, managing director of LCL.
