Latest Hosting news about Ukraine Lithuanian Sites Hacked by Russians - Lithuania's recent ban of Soviet symbols including the hammer and sickle and the five-pointed star has prompted Pro-Russian Soviet Symbol hackers to deface more than 300 Lithuanian sites with the banned symbols and profane messages, according to government officials.Warning of last week's attack that hit both business and government sites was given days before, according to independent security consultant and cyber threats analyst Dancho Danchev, who reported the incident on ZDNet security blog Zero Day.According to Danchev, the campaign started across web forums a week before. An Estonian TV network reported that they came across discussions by novice hackers hoping to launch a large-scale distributed denial-of-service attack against sites in Latvia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Estonia. CheckFree.com Payment Site Hijacked - According to reports released Wednesday, the online bill payment site CheckFree.com (www.checkfree.com) was hijacked this week by hackers who redirected users to a site that tired to install malicious applications on their machines.A post on Brian Krebs' Washington Post "Security Fix" blog said the attack was first reported by UK tech news site The Register, which said the attack began early on the morning of Tuesday, December 2, redirecting visitors from the site's homepage and user login page to a blank page that tried to install the malware.The attack was reportedly accomplished using legitimate login credentials for CheckFree's systems, hosted at Network Solutions. Checkfree Warns 5M Customers of Hack - Following a hacker hijacking in December that redirected users to a site that tried to install malicious applications, online bill payment site CheckFree.com (www.checkfree.com) has notified more than five million customers - not only direct CheckFree.com users, but also bank customers who use CheckFree's bill payment service to process payments.According to a new report from IDG News Service, it is still unknown how many customers have been exposed to malware but an official notice filed to the New Hampshire Attorney General showed CheckFree has warned many more customers than expected.
