EarthLink Launches New Pop-Up Blocker Jun 4, 2003
EarthLink (earthlink.net) announced today the launch of its latest version of Pop-Up Blocker, a feature that enables users to kill rich media ads before they appear on their screens.

"Pop-up ads are evolving and EarthLink is the first major ISP to include a rich media blocking feature that stops this annoyance from becoming a problem," said Rob Kaiser, vice president of narrowband marketing at EarthLink.
The newest version of Pop-Up Blocker enables users to choose between two levels of pop-up blocking. The ?full? mode allows subscribers to stop all pop-ups regardless of content. A new ?normal? option enables ?wanted? pop-up windows that include ?clicked? hyperlinks like calendars or charts and secure Web sites such as e-commerce transaction to appear, while still blocking unwanted pop-up ads.
"Pop-up functionality can be beneficial to a subscriber's Internet experience," added Kaiser. "Pop-Up Blocker enables customers to block the ads they don't want to see while empowering them to use the Internet on their terms and make the most of their time spent online."
First launched in August 2002, the newest version of Pop-Up Blocker is available at no additional charge and can be downloaded from the company?s Web site.
EarthLink is an Atlanta-based Internet Service Provider.
