UK domain registrar 123-reg (123-reg.co.uk) announced on Friday it is offering a free .co.uk domain name with any new .com, .net or .org domain purchased.   
The offer is aimed at helping businesses and Web site designers safeguard their online identity, ensuring total coverage of the .co.uk space as well, while also cutting the cost of creating an online presence. For a limited time, customers registering a new .com, .net or .org domain name for two years or more will get a free .co.uk domain for the first two years of registration. "Registering multiple versions of your domain name is a good way of protecting your brand while also helping to increase traffic to your Web site," says Mark Beyer, sales and marketing director at 123-reg. "Our domain registration process is really simple and you'll get a .co.uk extension for two years - completely free. It's a great opportunity for businesses to trial new domains or for a hobbyist to find out which best suits their needs." For each domain name registered with 123-reg, customers will receive free extras, including images from iStockphoto, a £5 gift voucher from Firebox and an InstantSite homepage. 123-reg also gives customers full DNS control via its online control panel, as well as free email and Web forwarding.
