A network switch sends information from a server or desktop directly to the computer for which it is intended, without broadcasting it to all systems on the network. Dell says its line of network switches, to be sold under the PowerConnect brand, will provide reliable performance at competitive prices.
The new line of switches for servers, storage, notebooks and desktops is expected to be available in the fiscal third quarter of this year, beginning in August. Dell president and CEO Kevin Rollins says that this move is in response for increased customer demand for high-value switches. Dell estimates small and medium businesses spent about $5.3 billion on network switches last year. | Reads: 878 | Category: General | Source: TheWHIR : Web Host Industry Reviews URL source: http://www.thewhir.com/marketwatch/dell718.cfm
