Endeavors Partners with NTT Europe Jun 20, 2008
In an effort to help software vendors more easily and efficiently make the switch to delivering their applications through a software as a service model, web hosting provider NTT Europe Online (ntteuropeonline.com) announced on Wednesday that it has signed a strategic partnership with Endeavors Technologies (endeavors.com) to build a "proof of concept" to be used as a "trial" SaaS platform for ISVs.

As a supporting point to this new partnership, NTT Europe Online touts research from Gartner, which predicts that the "global market for SaaS will more than triple over the next three years, growing from $6.3 billion in 2006 and is on track to reach $19.3 billion by the end of 2011."

Endeavors Technologies, a subsidiary of Tadpole Technology, calls itself a "pioneer in application streaming and virtualization technology" and creates, develops and markets technologies that enables servers to stream pc-based applications to client computers. The company says it has eight patents granted and 25 pending, including the first patents granted for streaming applications.

Endeavors Technologies says it partnered with NTT Europe Online because of its "extensive experience supporting and hosting SaaS applications" and its position as a Microsoft SaaS Incubation Partner.

This new offering is based on Endeavors' Application Jukebox technology, a family of products that contains three key components, the Application Jukebox Player, Application Jukebox Server controls and Application Jukebox Studio.

These elements all work together to enable software vendors to deliver applications, monitor usage and "create streamable, virtualized "appsets" from standard, Windows-based applications that are then published to the server."

"This trial service allows ISVs to evaluate initial market response without re-architecting the application; minimizing business risk, reducing costs and helping the ISV build a viable business proposition for SaaS," says Damian Skendrovic, regional director at NTT Europe Online. "Once proven, the technology and infrastructure underpinning the POC easily scales to support the ISV as customer usage grows."

The POC is available as a 30-day trial, says NTT Europe Online, enabling ISVs to experience the benefits of a hosted, SaaS model, without having to re-architect their existing windows-based application.
