Use submit form for hosting news!| Comodo Updates Enterprise Firewall Jul 3, 2008 | Security provider Comodo (www.comodo.com) has released an update to its open-source Free Trustix Enterprise Firewall to include many new features for server administrators.
Announced Thursday, Version 4.8.1 includes improvements on the free, configurable Firewall and a new graphic user interface designed to improve ease of use and access to features.
The drag-and-drop GUI has an advantage over other similar software, according to Comodo, because it allows administrators to quickly set and modify complicated firewall settings such as De-Militarized Zones without having to program them using a command line.
New to this version is a high availability and load balancer, designed to avoid false fail-overs to a secondary server. "The heartbeat communication informs the secondary server whether the primary server has failed is now duplicated on a serial interface," according to the press release. "The server will only take over if both the Ethernet and serial interface heartbeats cease."
Other new improvements include an intrusion detection system that is easier to remotely configure settings and determine the source of intrusions. More advanced settings and other improvements will make the system more configurable and easy to manage through a remote, VPN Connection.
Comodo's firewall monitors network traffic and protects the network against unauthenticated traffic or login attempts that could inject Trojans, worms, or infected files into the network. The new version now incorporates a powerful new anti-SPAM module.
