Use submit form for hosting news!| Midwest ISO Partners with Netezza Jul 9, 2008 | North American high voltage electric utility monitor Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator Inc (midwestiso.org) has selected Netezza Corporation (netezza.com) to handle power grid reliability, energy market performance analytics and usage statistics as an add-on to its current data center.
Announced Wednesday, Netezza expects its partnership with nonprofit organization Midwest ISO to help Midwest's goals of improving customer understanding, increasing market transparency and streamlining operations. Midwest ISO oversees the recently deregulated 15 Midwest US states and the Canadian province of Manitoba, according to the company.
A member of the Green Grid consortium (thegreengrid.org), Netezza is expected to reduce Midwest ISO's data center footprint and energy requirements by eliminating the need to move or expand the current data warehouse while improving performance. The current warehouse needed more space according to Netezza, explaining that it was bending under the pressure of data volumes growing by as much as 400 GB per month and dramatically shrinking data center space.

As environmental sustainability increasingly becomes a deciding factor in selecting web hosts, another environmentally friendly host was awarded a contract Wednesday.
