Use submit form for hosting news!| Netcraft Releases Web Server Survey Aug 29, 2008 | The Web has grown by a net 1.3 million sites due to 1.2 million Apache (apache.org) sites and half-a-million Google (google.com) sites, despite Microsoft IIS (iis.net) losing 60,000 sites, acccording to the latest web server survey by UK research and security firm Netcraft (netcraft.com).
According to Netcraft's survey of more than 176 million web sites, the August study looked at the number of active and inactive sites online, the top developers. Of all sites, Apache kept the largest market share, accounting for almost half of all domains, followed by Microsoft, Sun, Lightspeed, Google and NCSA.
With Apache and Google as the biggest winners, nginx (nginx.net) recorded the next largest gain, adding around 170,000 sites to its total of 2.4 million, keeping its status as the 5th largest web server vendor.
More than tripling the number of sites that run on its web server, LiteSpeed (litespeedtech.com) showed strong growth this month. Netcraft reports that most of its new sites stem from Gunzenhausen, Germany-based Hetzner Online (hetzner.de), the largest host of LiteSpeed sites.
