Aplus.Net Adds Security Tools May 31, 2006
Web hosting provider Aplus.Net (aplus.net) announced on Wednesday that it had launched two new security tools, Hotlink Prevention and IP Blocker. The tools are designed for strengthening clients' online security, and are available to Aplus customers at no charge.


The company says the Hotlink Prevention tool helps customers prevent Web users from linking directly to images hosted on their servers. Hosting customers whose images are being hotlinked may face increased bandwidth charges, and images from secure sites may be hotlinked in constructing fraudulent phishing sites.

The IP Blocker tool is designed to block abuse of customer Web sites. If a customer notices a particular IP address draining its Web site resources, leaving unwelcome comments or abusing the site in some other way, that customer can use the IP Blocker tool to prevent that user from returning to the site. The tool can be useful in preventing DDoS attacks.
