Chinese Linux Firm Red Flag Joins OSDL Jan 11, 2005

The Open Source Development Labs (osdl.org), a global consortium dedicated to increasing awareness of Linux in the enterprise, announced on Monday that China-based Linux developer Red Flag Software Company, Ltd. (redflag-linux.com/eindex.html) in China has joined OSDL and will participate in the organization's Desktop Linux, Carrier Grade Linux, and Data Center Linux working groups.

"Red Flag is joining the internationally-recognized OSDL organization so that our contributions to Linux and open source development can benefit the global Linux community," says Chris Zhao, executive president of Red Flag Software. "Together with OSDL and its members, we intend to share our expertise and technology to further promote Linux in China, in Asia, and around the world."
China is one of the world's fastest-growing markets for Linux, according to research analysts. Chinese IT research firm CCID Consulting estimates that the Linux server software market in China will escalate at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 50 percent over the next five years.
