I used to use them for website hosting and domains.
Their customer service was very bad, many of the staff don't seem to know any answers. I have now moved to a new hosting company, yet i still get billed from 1and1 for things i do not have anymore! It's a joke.
FYI: I now host with lcn.com and i'm happy!

DO NOT USE 1AND1. EVER!!
1and1 have let me down over and over and over again.
You simply cannot rely on 1and1s services.
Telephone support is non-existent. Often you are on hold for half an hour then it just say "Sorry" and you are cut off.
I have moved to UK Fast - they answer the phone within 3rings almost every time. I love them. They make my life easy!

If you want rubbish customer service then this is your company. At 1and1 they gurantee to mess up your life, waste your time and generally make you feel like the whole world is against you. No web host company has made web hosting so difficult that you need an education from the 1and1 university in order to get anything done. Thank god I found saynoto0870 otherwise my phone bill would have gone through the roof.
Dont look at the price. Just stay clear!

If you want to make the BIGGEST mistake of your life, sign up to 1and1. DO NOT GO NEAR 1AND1. This has to be the worst company on the planet. Their products and services sound too good to be true - because that are too good to be true.
This company is built of robbing clients. Poor server uptime, non-existant support. If you call their "24 hour" support, you will be put through to a call centre in the Phillipines where a computer illeterate poorly trained individual will read you answers off their FAQ. If you ask a question that is too hard for them, they will hang up on you, or re-read an irrelevant answer off their FAQ.
They will charge your credit card imaginary amounts and it takes hours on the phone to have these false charges removed.
If you then try to transfer away from them, they will hold your domains hostage, and make it impossible.
1and1 are COMPLETELY useless. Useless customer support, useless billing department, unethical games and tricks to charge you more again and again.
If there is one decision I could ever go back and change, it would be to go back to the day I signed up with 1and1, and simply jump off a clif instead. That would have been less painful in hindsight.

I attempted to use MS Hosting and cancelled immediately , as it was not what I wanted and I thought it sucked. I had to file several complaints to get out of a contract which 1and1 insisted I was bound to. They axed 173 of my domains off the Internet .
I now have an easy button available for anyone who encounters the same type problems. You can use it , bookmark it , paste it and add to it.

Looked at the online reviews and your company was near the top so I looked at your packages. I know very little about website hosting etc although I'm good with pc's.
So I decided to give you a call to talk to someone for advice on the best package to suit my needs.
I waited for 15 minutes with no idea where I was in your quewing system. Then, with no explanation I was just cut off!
I've got to say that your service is not as you advertise it. Surprising as you must rely on online reviews to bring in business.
I'll now try other companies, which is a shame as I liked the services you offer. Your telephone service is the first port of call for many new business - it needs dramatic improvement! I'm thinking that if your telephone service for clients is that slow what must the rest of your services be like!?

I happily ran 2 sites with 1and1 for 2 years, before it all went horribly wrong. You are right about their customer service. It generally consists of you reporting a problem and them saying 'tough - now pay up'. A single missed payment, which I cancelled in protest because they couldn't fix anything, and I had the bailiff's letter through the door with £50 charges attached and credit rating screwed! So they might APPEAR cheap, but their dreadful service has cost me dear.

1and1 internet are rubbish! They are utterly inflexable and the customer service is shocking. They use VOIP which often makes the operators hard to understand, but this isn't helped by their sketchy command of the English language.
They may be dirt cheap. But the reason is that they pay their staff dirt and they provide you the customer with a cheap shoddy service that will leave you feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.

This is probably the worst web hosting company in the UK. I maintain work and personal sites but was never able to make a site on this company's servers active.
Their help desk was no help at all and simply referred back to the instructions that hadn't worked before. Eventually I gave up and abandoned the attempt.
More than a year later 1&1 are sueing me. Apparently, their terms and conditions don't oblige them to actually provide a service. If you can't use their service you still have to pay. They are rude and officious and I regret ever getting involved with these cowboys.
