| | | 3FN Completes European Network Upgrade - December 29, 2008 - Web hosting provider Triple Fiber Network (www.3fn.net) announced last week that it has completed an upgrade to its European backbone.
The company says in a press release that by "upgrading major web hosting network equipment" within key European cities, it has "achieved considerable improvement" in the performance of IP network connectivity.
According to the announcement, the upgrade means faster and more reliable hosting services for the company's customers in Europe. 3FN says its strategy includes further backbone upgrades around the world, with the priority of those upgrades to be determined by the company's customers.
The press release says 3FN is headquartered in San Jose, California, with offices established in the UK, India, Ukraine and the European Union.
"Being a world leading web hosting provider, our company's main aspiration is to make our web hosting services available with a top level of quality from every spot on a globe," says Dean McToner, whom the release describes as the 3FN official representative. "Thus, in near future all our web hosting services will be upgraded and enhanced even if there is no need in it; all upgrades are implemented in order to power our customers with unprecedented quality of web hosting."
3FN says that as new and better equipment emerges, the company implements it throughout its network, though it doesn't describe specifically what equipment the upgrade to the European IP network involves.
The company's website does include a section that describes its network topology in some detail.
A recent string of announcements from 3FN seem to demonstrate a commitment to continuously upgrading its services. In November, the company announced improved hardware monitoring and replacement, new DDoS protection services, the addition of an intrusion prevention system, new dedicated server operation software and another somewhat generic-sounding "enhancement."

Michael Bitteman ( bitte(at)europe(dot)com ) | They've been shut down in the US by the Federal Telecommunications Commission as of this morning - there were 983 complaints of criminal violations of anti-spam regulations against them. They host many of the world's worst spammers. If you consort with them, your sites may go down as well, as all their clients' did this morning - hopefully for good. I was their client but dropped out when I found out everyone else there (or almost everyone else) was a spammer. I didn' want to be painted with that brush.

what I really like about this company:
- At present they have a really good support team and various contact options
- Their admins and techs are eager to assist and help with scripts and all those things for free.
- They have fair prices for the top quality hosting services.
The company has a good reputation and is rated by Netcraft as 99.99% uptime network.
I really appreciate they have various options and offers. The individual approach and capability to provide desired quality is their main advantage.

The Customer Service is very operative and friendly. I was interested in hosting services, and contacted 3FN Customer Service via Live Chat. The website consisted complete and helpful information on their hosting plans, but still I needed some assistance as I wasn't sure, which plan would suite me best. The young man was very polite and we soon agreed upon a certain hosting plan they had. Luckily enough, I have never expirienced any problems with their services. But still, once I wanted to see if their Customer Service is ALWAYS online. So (mybe it wasn't very ethical of me, but still) I made up several non-existing problems, and tried to contact them via other communication channels listed on their site (toll-free phone number, ICQ, MSN). And, somewhat surprisingly, all of them were operating online and willing to help! And I must note, that it was 1 AM.
Customer Support is vital for a company offering online services. Speaking of 3fn Customer Service, I should say I am quite sure, that I won't have any problems with reaching them, if necessary.
As mensioned before, I have been a client of 3fn hosting for quite a time, and I don't know much about other hosting providers. However, 3fn fully satisfies my needs, and I am not interesed in other hosting providers. Moreover, I feel quite secure, that being a 3fn I do not take any risks, for instance, if they won't refund, in case I (knock on wood) come across any serious problems with their services.

Very Unsatisfied Customer
( daisukeakiyoshi(at)gmail(dot)com ) | 3fn is one of the poorest hosting companies I have ever encountered.
The Customer Service is virtually nonexistent. I was very interested in a certain plan they had, and dropped an email for a pre-sales inquiry. Days passed, no response. I have then tried and exhausted all the possible communication channels listed on their site (ICQ, "24h" Online Support Chat, MSN) but they are never online, and never returns messages.
Weeks have passed and they have still not replied.
Responding to pre-sales questions is very important, especially since their website is very unhelpful and does not list actual features per plan at the fine granularity needed. If at this stage, I am receiving no support from them, how do they expect me to actually hand them over my money and be a client? What if I have problems later, and I cannot reach them? How do I even know that they will not just run away and not give a refund?
I will definitely NOT recommend 3fn to others.
