Global Webmaster since 1993. From over 4 years with APT host I can honestly say that we have lost literally thousands of dollars due to this companies negligence and corrupt billing process. When I purchased supposedly 2 separate class ip VPS accounts, I found out after two years later they added it on to my VPS account (same class ips) and charged me for two accounts an space. Now where I come from that is fraud. Their only answer after threatening them with a class action law suit was... sorry we made a mistake and will refund the money. Now 2 years later, still no refund. Apt Host are crooks! Use your head and Google search "APT HOST Complaints" on about how these crooks do nothing but rip hard working people off. What comes around. The funny thing is? The client they ripped off is a Canadian billionaire. How dumb can you get?

I had accumulated 119 usd and asked them to Pay my money, they asked my phone number for verification and said they have to verify before payment. They NEVER called up and No reponses to Support Tickets. I had done so much hardwork to refer customers and made 119 usd. This was going on for 50 days and they never paid till now...
Support : No proper reponses. Un-necessary excuses and delays
Poor Reliablity, Hard Disk Crash was observed that too after 24 hours of downtime i brought to their notice, and ALL DATA GONE.. NO BACKUPS.
Cost Too High for poor service

I think they had some internal issues but It didn't affect my website and everytime I've contacted them I never had any issues reaching them. One time my site was down but I went on live chat and guy named James was able to get it back online for me in a few minutes. Overall I think they're great and I've already recommended them to some of my friends who also have sites.

April 30, 2009 Rich R ( -no email- ) | I've been contracting for web hosting since the mid-1990s and have been with large and small companies. I decided to go with AptHost because of their support for ffmpeg and a few of the other video tools they support.
Since signing up in June 2008, service and performance have been flawless. In the past month or so, I've run into a number of problems (server offline, server extremely slow, MySQL not working). In each of these cases, I've been able to create a support ticket or initiate a live chat with the support, and have the issues resolved within a few hours (if not minutes).
I think the experience one has with AptHost really depends on which server they have your data on. As mine is a shared server (perhaps shared with many running video scripts) it depends on what others have going on that affect server load. My most recent problems with slow server performance cleared up when another site's scripts were disabled by the Apthost administrators. If someone is running a successful site with loads of users and video scripting going on, at some point they need to upgrade to a dedicated server. At some point I know I'll need that too. In the meantime, Apthost is a good choice for me as there aren't many ISPs that will allow ffmpeg, etc.
Anyway, I thought I'd write my review as all the other recent reviews have trashed Apthost.

They lost data. I've been buying virtual hosting for 10 years with a lot of companies. No one has ever just lost data and then not been able to restore it.
They lied about why the data was lost. First saying it was due to an employee's incompetence, then it was because of a hack on the site, then network issues.
Then, when I asked that my account be canceled they took 5 days to respond to the ticket. Then went ahead and charged it anyway. Then they wouldn't let me cancel unless I checked off a new terms of service waiving my right to sue in small claims court.
Oh, and the Better Business Bureau has bad reports on them, as well. Here's what they say about apthost.

April 18, 2009 Ronald ( -no email- ) | I have been with Apthost for 3weeks now. WORST hosting company on earth! My first 3days with them
they had harddisk problems it took them 3days to fix that. Then i could setup my account everything
worked fine for two weeks (except for ffmpeg wich generates alot out of sync videos) and yeah totaly
NO support it takes them 3days to respond to a ticket if they reply at all. Live chat isn't worth
anything because even if you want to upgrade (wich i wanted cause i wanted to upgrade and switch to
another server) they can't even help you. Live chat is totaly NO support at all, the only thing they
say is "please hold" and then you can wait 20hours for no response. Live chat is worth nothing, and ticket support if any reaction at-all is totally off-topic and/or a
couple of days later. After two weeks something happened to server again and data of 4days are lost and the server was
down for 5days. My main account had been fix after those 5days but the 4addon domains i had with
them havn't been fixed to this date (also posted a ticket about it again with a total off-topic
response). After all this mess i submitted a ticket that i was totally unhappy with the hosting cause losing
atleast 20hours of hard work isn't fun, 10minutes after that ticket my account had been
terminated... LOL. At this moment all i want is my money back, i'll give an update if they give any
money back cause i'am only with them for 21days now and they say they have a 45day money back.
Stay away i warned you.

April 16, 2009 Dejko ( sabina at kako dot si ) | I have hosting accounts with at least three different providers and Apt Host has proven to be the worst. My main problem with Apt host is their time to resolve a problem. It happened more then once that the site would crash, showing some wierd errors. It takes them several DAYS ... yes, you hear it right... days... to fix a problem. At the end, after tens of tickets and mails sent to their management you still have to fight with the techinicans because the site does not work properly... I am giving up on Apt host and changing provider because you loose too much nerves and time to deal with them. You try to establish a profitable web site, finaly starting gaining real traffic and they put you offline for days... Not worth the money you're paying...

I moved from a larger hosting company reading all the "Great Things" people said on there homepage and reviews. The Billing chat was great..once my order went in, everything went downhill., They promised me 3-5 hours on my transfer, 4 days later...nothing., I called support and they said they were moving the sites now, and it would take 4 hours, 6.5 hours later the guy I spoke to went home and just left a note for the next tech to move the sites., and they still were not even in the process of being moved. The live chat is rude, can not answer simple questions like "Has my site transfers been started yet"., All I got was "Do you have a ticket number"., I replied yes and gave it.. the next answer was "We will reply to the ticket"., Its live chat guys a simple check and a yes or no will suffice. The ticket reply time was over 12 hours without a response and I had to call to just get a response. After that average ticket response time was between 2-12 hours or more ....if at all. One response from support was "I TOLD YOU I WILL RESPOND TO THE TICKET"., and that was a response to a simple question of "Just curious if my sites have been moved yet its been 4 days"... (UPDATE) $181.00 and 7 days later my sites were just moved last night. A full week of no service, bad support, and alot of rude people. Ive heard these servers are fast so I will deal with the bad support if the servers are good. Although the additional $35/mo support to ask any more than 5 questions/tickets is something that I was not ready for....

1. tech support is great and are always on chat ready for me 2. they answer all my question 3. they didn't lose my cpanel transfer 4. They were so friendly they included a smiley face in the emails 5. I've had no downtime so far 6. server certainly does not go down everyday.
I have been with hostgator and jaguarpc and none can stand up to the great service Ive received from apthost
