( peterdalton2000(at)yahoo(dot)com ) | I have been in need of another web hosting account and went back and forth between adding more resources at one host that I like and where I have 2 accounts already or to diversify and get an account at an additional host. The first won and I finally settled for a new web hosting account.
I signed up late in the evening and just took advantage of new the cutoff for new accounts to be activated by a few minutes.
This morning things worked its way and my account was approved and setup very quickly. I also got a detailed welcome email with information about their environment and my new main account. At first I could not log into their helpdesk, but a quick ticket solved that issue in 15 minutes after submitting my ticket.
My next ticket was about moving my accounts. I asked them if they would be able to assist by moving my account (which really makes a site move a breeze). This ticket, low in priority was answered within 45. The bad thing is they do not want to offer moving of all my emails, but at least they are willing move my site and database which puts a little more work and time usage onto me, but overall that is fine.
So, so far I got very fast ticket response times combined with cheap pricing. I also browsed their knowledge base to read about problems and I have the feeling that AwardSpace web hosting is a great choice to host websites with and would not be changing host or looking for additional hosting provider in the near future.

Ben ( badabing[at]cableone[dot]net ) | AwardSpace is fine when the server is up, free web hosting is supposed to be the best on the internet, well I might agree if not for server down time. Maybe it's because of where the server is, that people think it's ok to have the server down during their night time, but my customers are like 12 hours or more difference. No matter there are other free hosting sites to try, so I'm changing to one closer to home...

EHouben ( eblog(at)live(dot)nl ) | Well, I joined awardspace free plan (.info ext) for a new blog of mine. It worked just fine for a few days, installing wordpress was a breeze and it seemed to be smooth sailing from there. After the first few days my blog went down, so did wordpress login and awardspace hosting login. No communication about this from the host.
So, now I have a new (free hosted) blog...which I can't see, edit or troubleshoot...thx awardspace. Guess I'll be on my way to bluehost about now.

Linda Jackson ( linda-j(at)dacl(dot)org ) | I have been very happy with my Awardspace free hosting up until now, although the controlpanel can be a bit confusing, but at present the site is inaccessible, I cannot log in to my account, and I have not been contacted about any problems. I have searched the awardspace homepage for many hours trying to find an announcement, at least telling me what is going on, and this is the first place I have found where any problem is flagged up. I tried the live chat facility, but there was no-one there(!), and emails have not been answered. Ironically, I was just about to add a second site to the awardspace service, but I shall now be looking to host both sites elsewhere. Strangely no-one seems to have contacted the free webhosting review sites with news about this and annoyingly awardspace is coming up with nothing but great reviews on all the ones I looked on (looking for a new site). Obviously these sites don't make a big effort to keep up to date, so how can we trust them when looking for a replacement??

I am (or was) using the Free program and finally learned how to update my page. Customer support cannot even be reached! Downtime is a pain in the neck!!

Gokay Huz ( gokayh[at]hotmail[dot]com ) | I have been using the site for 8 months with no problems whatsoever. I am on the free plan with copuple restrictions but as mine is an information based webpage with minimal graphics and only basic HTML and minor scripts, that has not been a problem...
Up until January 7th, 2010. On Jan 7th, one of their service went down (server no:8), bringing down all the sites hosted on it. It has been three weeks and not a single one official announcement has been made from the company itself. Even people on paid hosting plans have not been able to access their websites, or control panels. As the server is down, it is not possible to retrieve your web site either. So, people with no backups are basically screwed.
Having technical problems is one thing. But having a 21 day downtime with no official announcemnt/communications is another. Way to go Awardspace...

During that time they have proved that they are a great investment and easy to use service. I have an ecommerce site that makes approximately $400 permonth and I only pay $5 per month for hosting. The ROI is the greatest I have seen so far. That is the reason I am giving it an excelent mark.

Seriously, the MySQL is down like, half the time. Sometimes the databases are down for an entire day. If you want to host a forum or something like that, don't use awardspace. But everything else is just PERFECT. So, if you're just some dude who doesn't really want any dynamic content like a forum or a commenting system then go right ahead, awardspace is the option for you. If you do however want to use MySQL, you're better off using something else.

The service is very good for newbies like myself who are learning the art of web design. I am also impressed with the consistancy of the service compared to other webhosts. In fact the service has been so good that I have never had to use the support services which means I can't actually rate the customer relations properly. Kudos.
