People that have a bad time have more incentive than the ten of thousands happy customers to bitch and complain about service.

I don't know why the commenter's below have chosen to leave such negative comments about Doteasy. I have had nothing but quality service from them over the years. Perhaps they are trying to damage this good company's reputation because they didn't get their own way.
I don't really need a refund guarantee for the web hosting Doteasy is providing to me, since the price of that service is FREE. Plus if you look at the terms and conditions of other providers you will see almost all of them have similar clauses regarding refunds or a lack thereof.
Yes, my domain transfer to them did take 7 days, but I was actually surprised when I found out that this was actually the bare minimum amount of time required for a domain transfer to occur because there is a mandatory 7 day transfer confirmation period for domain transfers. Plus it wasn't really Doteasy's fault that I forgot to ensure that my domain was unlocked before I started the transfer.
I renew my domains with them for 5 years at a time, so I have never had to pay more than US $18.00 a year for both domain name registration service AND hosting service for my website. That's a fantastic deal. I mean that works out to $1.50 a month to have a domain name AND web hosting. That's practically nothing at all. Absolutely PERFECT for many start-up businesses, churches and non-profits.
The posts saying you can't call them must be really old. Their number is right on their contact us page.

I have been trying to get Doteasy to release my domain to my new registrar since the 22nd February when I entered the correct authorization code (it is now the 11th March). I would advise anyone who is with them to allow at least two months to avoid any transfer problems. My business website and e-mails are now down and I have had to contact them numerous times. I have not been able to activate the DNS transfer either. They are now stating it may be another five days and as they are not open over the weekend, this translates in reality to seven days! I transferred another domain name at the same time from another provider and the process took four days and was completely painless. I cannot urge people strongly enough to keep away from Doteasy. I have also noticed that KingKoopa is very active on noticeboards trying to dispel the negative comments by actual users of Doteasy. He or she seems to work either for Doteasy or its PR company, both need all the help they can get. STAY AWAY otherwise you'll end up like me Googling every web review/ discussion group to make sure no-one else makes the same mistake and goes through what I'm going through now.

Good ole Doteasy..This is the worst experience I have ever had on the web. Our 501C3 NON-PROFIT CHARITY was ripped off by these animals.$466. because of a dispute over the exchange rate which they trick you into. I asked for a dipute, And we were correct, our bank recharged the correct amounts to them . Then they locked our accounts and would not turn them back on unless we were to pay an extra $125 re-activation fee plus a $25 bank fee for each of our three accounts. Extortionist. I hope I can get the word out. They never returned our money and we did not have the extra $200 to get things reactivated...So they have our money, and we have Nothing. Thanks dotsleazy !

It is no wonder doteasy doesn't have a telephone number...they're hiding! After years of rotten service my organization is giving up on them...Problem is that over a week's worth of effort has not gotten them to take down our existing websites so that we can post new ones via a different provider...and we own the domain names!
Be warned one and all...STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! You will spare yourself a terrible time and an exercise in frustration. I feel like I've been dealing with the MacKenzie brothers - HOSERS!

I was on a paid hosting account with these pundits for nearly three years. I noticed a lot of downtime, but I was always too lazy to change my hosting. I chose this company mainly because they were offering the best packages for the best cost IN CANADA. I won't make that mistake again. The features weren't too bad (all of their modules, Perl, CGI, etc., were up to date), and they had a mysql and phpmyadmin built into their VERY confusing control panel. Their version of offering scripts was providing a list of guestbooks, blogware, counters, etc. that you could use if you happened to visit the respective site and download them for installing them on the server. There are no automatic scripting like Fantastico, or anything like that. It should also be mentionned that when I finally made the move to another webhost that neither the site backup which I made from the admin control panel, nor my database dump worked when I tried to import them into my new hosting (both were corrupted). I had countless problems with them which culminated into one huge fiasco at the end of my hosting time with them. It started when I noticed that my Coppermine Galleries would no longer allow batch uploads. The tech support didn't know what they were doing and it didn't seem that there was any communication happening between them and the system admin. All they had to do was change a few lines in the php.ini and add a few exceptions to their configuration, but they couldn't figure it out. They were also running in a poorly configured safe mode. Through their efforts to fix the problem, they succeeded in completely crippling my galleries. Then I found out that they had done something that also affected my MT blog. They then messed up that install as well. Finally, the icing on the cake was when I visited my site one day (while I was still having these problems), and discovered that my entire site was down. They had disabled my account due to the fact that the export utility on MT "terminated unexpectedly" twice (it was probably just a matter of permissions or a config file that wasn't running perfectly after my recent upgrade). They interpretted this as one of those old MT hacking vulnerabilities, which don't happen anymore. They didn't even notify me about that and wouldn't do anything about putting things back to the way they were before. In the end, I was unable to hold a connection via FTP, I couldn't get into phpmyadmin or mysql admin to get a proper dump of my site (since the first try didn't work), they were slow about putting the nameserver changes into effect, and the support became deaf towards my problems.
All in all, this company is a travesty to the webhosting community. I can't believe I stayed with them so long. Due their negligence and ineptitude, I had to rebuild my entire site by hand and, since I couldn't get any database dumps or archive exports, I had to re-enter 3 years worth of blog posts MANUALLY. Until you've had to do that yourself, you have no idea how much work that is.
Don't go with this sorry excuse for a webhost, you'll only regret it.

Avoid! Doteasy is not free. They lock your domain and you have to renew it with them. The renewal is nearly triple than other registrars ask, so you pay for your “free” hosting more than with other providers.
If you try to transfer your domain they will not release the authorisation code and will not reply to your support requests. You can be official owner of the domain (and you have also some responsibilities) but the real owner of your domain is Doteasy. Call it “free hosting” … :-/

Doteasy STINKS. I highly recommend that you not use their service. Poor customer service when there is a problem. The staff seems to disappear and do not want to return emails when there is a problem, and the problems are getting worse and worse each day now. When they do answer emails they don't answer your question and don't seem to know what they're doing. They have also lied to me on several occasions. AVOID THE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

About two weeks ago I my website was down for about a day. I contacted Dot Easy via email, since they have no telephone available, and received a response the next day. Their customer service rep told me that nothing was wrong and that he "could not duplicate" the problem I was having. I asured him that my site did not have any traffic that day in question.
I'm not satisfied with their service or network performance. I plan to leave their hosting and move elsewhere. I don't recommend this company.

Server outages are becomming more frequent and of a longer duration. Customers can't access web site and I can't send/receive pop3 email.
I am beginning to question if this host is worth the cost (free). Upgrading to paid hosting would make no difference since the entire ISP is down.

Fairly reliable BUT when there is a problem their service is horrible!! Currently our firm's email has been down all day and Doteasy's online help hasn't been active and they are not responding to emails. This happened only once before, but it took a whole day to get in touch with them to fix the problem.
Bottom line, it is economical but when something goes wrong, they are nowhere to be found.

Doteasy's web hosting is awful. I know now why some of their web hostings are free. The thing is that now not even their web page is working, my office email account is down, I don't have a phone number to call them. Bad experience. Not recommended.
