About FatcowWhy FatCow? We get this question a lot! Well, why call a computer an apple? FatCow was designed from the start to be a different alternative in Web hosting. We took a look around and saw lots of techno babble, confusing pricing schemes and not much in the way of customer satisfaction or support. We decided that a simpler, more customer friendly approach was needed.
FatCow was born in 1998 and the rest is history. We've grown our company with a dedicated group of talented believers in the notion that simple, old fashioned service and value still ring true. FatCow has focused our entire company on delivering the best value and customer service experience in Web hosting to the small business user. We make every effort to make our services easy to own, easy to use and most importantly to provide real business value. And yes, we like to have fun doing it. Great Hosting Plans. No Bull. Just like our company, FatCow's Web hosting plan is a different breed. To simplify getting your personal or small business Web site up on the net, we created and pioneered a one plan one price philosophy. The FatCow Web hosting plan has everything you need to stake out your piece of the Internet, right out of the box.
If a full hosting plan is a bit more than you're looking for, our MiniMoo plan might just fit the bill. We created MiniMoo as a way to get started on the Web with just a domain name and an e-mail address to get the word out. You can post a generic under construction page until you're ready for a full hosting product, or you can use our SiteDelux site building tool to build your own page. MiniMoo is perfect if you're just starting your business or a need a placeholder for several domains.
If you'd like a friendly voice to help select a Web hosting plan to meet your specific needs, our sales & service staff at 1-866-544-9343 is always here to help.
Founded in 1998, FatCow is a provider of shared Web hosting solutions for small to medium-sized businesses and individuals looking for an affordable Web hosting option.

| | "OK ... as I read this site this morning, there have been five Fatcow users with criticisms since the beginning of the year, three of them finding fault with customer services -- out of c.42,000 domains that is not exactly a tidal-wave of fault finding. For this company (Batsford-Bear), and for the eight/nine/ten associates and clients who have changed over to FatCow on our recommendation (we are NOT signed up for any affiliates pay-off packages), we find FatCow provides exceptionally helpful, very, very uncomplicated webhosting for the medium-sized business ... and especially for the medium-sized, multi-client consultancy. It makes it simple (and inexpensive) for a business to look as-smart-as-all-hell in its e-performance and it makes it simple to keep in-house track of even the most-diverse e-traffic. It is, far-and-away, this consultancy's best experience of webhosting in 23 years." john chambers<forjohnc@batsford-bear.com> / www.batsford-bear.com | | FatCow Integrates Google Custom Search - February 12, 2009 - Providing Google's game-changing search technologies to their customer's individual sites, web hosting provider FatCow (www.fatcow.com) has incorporated Google Custom Search technologies into its shared web hosting services, making it easy for customers to incorporate valuable search capabilities.
According to FatCow's Wednesday announcement, customers can manage Google's free Custom Search script directly from their hosting control panel. Also, for an extra fee, customers can upgrade to Google Site Search for enhanced controls over branding, presentation and indexing. This is an interesting new value-added service that other hosts may be interested in adding to their shared hosting plans.
"FatCow is among the first hosts to integrate Google Custom Search," FatCow product management vice president Mitch Haber said in a statement. "Not only is Google Custom Search the best customizable search engine available, it's quick and easy to implement, and is free with any FatCow account."
According to FatCow's research, quality site search capabilities improves user experience, engagement and conversion rates, which is one of the reasons why FatCow chose to implement Google search tool.
"Our goal at Google is to engineer ease and simplicity across the board, from the user who is searching, to the Webmaster who is building," Google Custom Search group product manager Rajat Mukherjee said in a statement. "Having Google Custom Search and Google Site Search integrated into FatCow is a tremendous leap forward in providing more Webmasters access to Google search technologies, and improving user experience on the Web."
FatCow customers can now add a customized site-search box, which can search the customer site, a group of select sites, or the wider Internet. It also incorporates Google AdSense to generate additional revenue.

July 19, 2010 Robert ( rwslippey(at)gmail(dot)com ) | I have been working with fatcow for about a year. I client I am working with has 2 domains hosted with fatcow. One of which loads normal with no issues.. The other however is extremly slow. The difference between the 2 sites is the fast one is a static web page with no scripting. The other is an ecommerce store. I have investigated the situation to the best of my ability, to the extent of hosting it locally on my own development server. I was able to load the website faster from my own server, which is on my home lan, witch at cable speed. I brought my issues to their technical department who has now told me twice that I am wrong and their is nothing wrong with my page. More than 10 other users have checked the page and say it loads slow from their hosting. Their technical support attempts to make it my problem by saying my connection must be slow... I beg to differ with their technical staff as everyone I have asked to visit the page has said the same thing, it's slow... Their connections range from cable and up , all the way up to fiber... It's obviously not a client issue. I'm personally inclined to belive it's a result of an over crowded server and have once again requested their assistance.. We'll see if they blow me off again... I would not suggest anyone who wishes to use php or mysql use fatcow... Static web sites seem to be fine, at the moment. I've also recieved issue in the past where their server was momentarily down, it usually comes right back up, but it can get anoying. Good luck...

June 26, 2010 -anonymous- ( luke[at]wezdezign[dot]com ) | I have been trying to get a fatcow reseller account now for about 3 weeks.. my paypal payment had an error, so i tried it again.. then realized in my paypal account the first one had gone through.. although was sat "unclaimed" so now I had two "unclaimed" payments in my paypal account..
I have been talking to support staff throughout the last two weeks trying to resolve the issue and NOTHING has been done.. they have "escalated" the issue to a senior specialist or something of the sort..
I mean a two year old could accept a paypal payment in a few minutes!!!!..
after reading some of these reviews I am having second thoughts about using them.. they obviously have the look and the pricing but apart from that they seem to be pretty rubbish..

June 17, 2010 SKR ( webmaster(at)cssgurus(dot)com ) | I joined fatcows 30 day money back trial early last year. Before the trial expired, I discovered that their php has limitations that their technical people are too incompetent to fix. Since their server was no good to me, I told them in no uncertain terms that I did not want to proceed past the trial period and to cancel my account.
1 year later, I get an invoice from fatcow, and after investigating why, it turns out they had been helping themselves to my credit card!!!
So I canceled the service again in May, and received several emails from them confirming it had been canceled this time.
Now, I have just received more invoices from them for exactly the same thing. They are attempting to bill me for another years service for a cost of USD98!!!
I've sent them several emails and they refuse to connect to Live chat which I have been trying for the past hour and no one is picking up the conversation.
As far as I'm concerned, fatcow are a bunch of freeloading criminals. Their hosting trials are a scam, and their account cancellation processes are ambiguous and overly complicated.
DO NOT go near this company their servers don't have proper cpanels and their php has limitations that even they can't understand, and DO NOT trust them with your credit card details!

May 12, 2010 Kostas ( kgeorgat[at]gmail[dot]com ) | My review is an ongoing ticket request to fatcow in relation to Joomla sites and I intend to give further reports.... ========================== Hello,
as I continue to have an unreachable or broken joomla site, I proceed with further details on actions taken from my side: 1) error opening: www.mysite.com 2) I successfuly changed ns1, ns2 at the registrar 3) I went to Control panel -> Domain Pointing Manager: mysite.com subdirectory points to /dira/ or /dirb/ depending on which site I want to test (see step 4) 4) I uploaded different versions of my site from localhost: a. all joomla files without Akeeba Backup module to directory "dira" b. all joomla files contained in Akeeba Backup archive "site-localhost-20100512-105400.zip" after successful installation of the module, backing my site up and uploading the .zip file to "/stats" 5) I created database "mysitedba" for case 4a and "mysitedbb" for case 4b with user "dbuser" and password "ghVb78Urw3" for both databases from Control panel -> Manage MySQL 6) a. In case 4a, I edited "configuration.php" file: var $log_path = '/dira/logs'; var $tmp_path = '/dira/tmp'; .................. var $host = 'mysitecom.fatcowmysql.com'; var $user = 'dbuser'; var $db = 'mysitedba'; ............. var $password = 'ghVb78Urw3';
My error: -------------------- only home page renders correctly and all links direct to a broken template. Even so, my pages seems functional! -------------------- These kind of problems are due to server configuration!
b. in case 4b, I uploaded "kickstart.php", opened browser to www.mysite.com/dirb/kickstart.php and nothing happens due to server configuration! I extracted all files from "/stats/site-localhost-20100512-105400.zip" to "/dirb" and kickstart stills denies to load. I changed execution bits of kickstart with no results, still. I imported my sql query to database "mysitedbb" with no results.
My error: ----------------- "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, cgiadmin@yourhostingaccount.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log." ------------------
It seems your server doesn't support joomla site migration with Akeeba Backup(4b) or manually(4a)! Confirmed?
Best regards, Kostas
*As I'm in short time here, I'll have to redirect my registrars records in 24 hours.

May 6, 2010 -anonymous- ( -no email- ) | I just had the worst experience with FatCow! They offer the 30 day refund and when you try to get the refund within 30 days, they say they will but they don't! I had to call back 3 times before they issued my refund! To top that off, they took my domain when I asked them about transfer information! I will be adding my complaint to the already existing list of complaints they have with the Better Business Bureau! Research the BBB and you will find out that as of 5/01/10, they have had 128 complaints regarding billing within the last 36 months and I will be another to make it 129. Who knows how many else they had prior! They are horrible to deal with and FatCow should be closed!!!

April 17, 2010 Daniel Cumerlato ( daniel(at)spacelightstudios(dot)com ) | Really the problem comes down to the support team. We had an urgent sitution come up with an email account on the system. Converted to Exchange for an increased size limit. After being unable to connect to the email account other than through webmail, the emails now coming into this high-profile account were locked away and couldn't be retrieve. Over and over again I called the support folks, and pretty much each time I was promised "2 hours" for the boxt to be converted back so we could get the emails.
Well, 28 hours and $75 later absolutly nothing had been done!
Finally I had to fix it myself by forwarding all of the emails to another working account, deleting the box and stating over.
And to add insult to injury, the minute I updated the now 36hr old ticket with "I did it myself"... it only took 10mins for the missing Tier 2 analyst to reply, "I am glad to hear you were able to resolve this issue from your end. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you."
As I said to them, it was the worst support experience of my 10 years of working with clients.
I implore the people reading this to avoid Fatcow and these obvious support shortcommings. Do not get sucked in by the low, low price, because now you know what you're paying for.

March 15, 2010 PlanetN ( planet[dot]narcolepsy[at]gmail[dot]com ) | I am new to in depth web design and decided it was time to take a step above "drag and drop" building provided with most free networks (Yahoo!, Google, etc.). After poking around, I had heard good things about Fat Cow, and the pricing was beyond reasonable.
Within days of getting my site up and running, I was having problems. Email has been in and out close to weekly. In the almost 3 months I've been a customer, my site has been down at least half that time for no apparent reason.
Once, I performed a backup using their "easy" "suggested" method, only to lose critical data and somehow corrupt files I hadn't touched. By the time I realized where the issues were, they couldn't help me because they don't hold on to anything more than three days.
Worse, it takes them 72 hours to respond to a service ticket in the first place! Coincidence? I'm guessing not.
I've constantly been asked for my password and access information, been told there's no problem (when I'm getting emails and calls left and right because no one can reach the site or log in), and been told the answer is what I've just told them I did with no luck.
I've had ghost files on their server gum up the site after being deleted from the database, and after reloading from my local test environment (AGAIN) last night, as soon as a visitor registered on the front end, the whole kit and kaboodle crashed once more.
For a company that sends surveys after every encounter, they obviously aren't concerned with my negative responses. I haven't decided if I'll waste my time trying to get my money back, but I assure you I won't be a customer much longer.
I've spent more time finding no answers in their crappy help center and browsing other sites' forums for support with THEIR issues than I have doing what I love and getting my business off the ground.
I only gave them a 3 in the customer relations department because they DO respond, albeit poorly and late, and they fake concern with their automated surveys.
Not impressed.

February 28, 2010 Networking Witches ( networkingwitches[at]gmail[dot]com ) | We had a lot of issues with Fat Cow and in the short time we were hosted by them it cost us money and time and lot of both. They consistently told us it was our error but when we moved to Host Gator all of those problems disappeared. Our hired Web Designer told us he had never seen a host so slow in loading.
Fat Cow has a money back guarantee but I warn you they do NOT stand behind it. They advertise a 99% up time and that isn't true. My partner and I also noticed that when the site went down we couldn't get through to service with out a long wait and they have hold for their customer service chat.
Always they said it was our issue and tried to sell us on more packages and more add on features.

February 10, 2010 Verdad ( Verda(dot)2010(at)hotmail(dot)com ) | WARNING - this is a true story and if you skip it you have yourself to blame for using Fatcow or Globat for web hosting. So pissed am I that I´m even giving entering my e-mail address so you can be sure it is legit. Fatcow is Globat - when you call customer service you get the exact same people, ask David. Globat´s ratings have gone so far down the toilet that they are trying to fool people with a new name. If you don´t believe me, contact their sales person who screwed up my account, his name is David and his number at Globat is: 877-513-7446, x6947 Over the last couple of years I have endured the worst service by Globat. So I figured things couldn´t get worse, their mistakes were an anomaly, so I didn´t move my account to another host - WRONG. Mistakes are the norm. Here's my story - stick with it, it becomes a nightmare: Issue 1: The epic begins. One day in late Nov-2009 I discovered that my 2 domains were suddenly split into separate accounts and I was sent an e-mail stating new monthly charges. WHAT! A call to Customer Support (CS) - and even the rep was baffled because my account allows many domains under 1 account, using the same storage and bandwidth. He said he would fix it and put things back as should be. Issue 2: Next day I discover that my entire site for domain 2 was completely deleted. On hold for long periods, CS reports "of course you added a domain." NO, your rep combined my account that was separated, I replied. CS - your files were all deleted, you have to upload them. I attempt to do so but my logon info is invalid for domain 2. Another call - oh there´s a different incomprehensible file structure and redirection for domain 2. Issue 3: Next day I discover that my e-mail accounts for domain 2 are gone. CS - You have to create new accounts because your domain was deleted and added. Attempt with failure, their system won´t let me create any new e-mail account for any domain. Another call, on hold, the CS doesn´t know why. On hold for another 30 minutes. Hang up, call back - I´m told 1st rep went to lunch, but you can now create e-mails. What! I´ve been on hold waiting. Hmmmm, I can hear them scratching their nimble heads. I´m somewhat put off. Supervisor please. He´s sorry for all the inexplicable mistakes, offers to help by giving me free hosting time on my account. Connects me to David. Issue 4: The nightmare really begins. David checks my account. I still have 9 months left. My rate was higher and they have a better, cheaper package. He´ll refund my 9 months and charge me for 1 year at the better rate. Ok, I agree. Later that day, my account info shows no refund, my credit card was charged, my renewal is at double the rate. Call back to David - "don´t worry now, call back in 1 year if you have problems." RIGHT! You´re going to remember me in 1 year. Where´s my refund for the 9 months? Issue 4 on steroids: E-mails later and calls on hold, CS Billing Dept - sir you account expires in 1 year. Yes, I know, David change it. But I had 9 months left originally. I want everything put back to the way it was, expire in 9 months, refund for the 1 year charge. I want nothing from you, and I will not renew. CS - Our info doesn´t show that you had 9 months, prove it. WHAT! That´s right, prove it. Are you kidding? CS - We have no records, we can´t look up anything, the company was bought about 11 months ago and we lost all our records. You´ll have to prove it or live with it. So I dig through e-mails and records and find an e-mail from... the Billing Dept. A few days later my account is put back in original state. In all, I spent 5 hours on the phone with these morons just to get my account back to it´s original state, 2 domains under 1 package. Several times on hold the line went dead and no call back. I had to prove I had an account and it´s expiration. No one gave a s__t that I had endured such a mess. Thinly veiled apologies and boiler plate e-mails "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you." YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! If you decide to use Fatcow or Globat, you have no one to blame but yourself. Verda Verda.2010@hotmail.com

November 28, 2009 John Slaughter ( Admin(at)MA-VitalRecords(dot)org ) | The control panel is easy to use. Handling of domains/sub-domains is very easy and allows for updating of the WhoIs info as long as the domain was purchased from or transferred to FatCow. Extra domains are $20, about double buying them from direct sellers such as WhoIs or GoDaddy. File management is decent but needs some speed loading up. Setting up e-mail addresses is easy but editting is not.
The default e-mail client is AtMail but FatCow is using an extremely outdated version. FatCow also provides Horde and Squirrel mail. These were $4 a month extra when I signed up, but I think they are now free and the user can switch clients at will. None of these are what I would consider as really decent e-mail clients. They all allow for SMPT and IMAP.
There have been at least two times where the servers went down. Once was supposedly caused by a power outage. Apparently they have no backup power generators.
There is 24/7 customer support, but it is what I would characterize as average. They seem to basically read from a script. There is no bending to expedite fixing of problems.
Price is certainly among the lowest.

November 23, 2009 Sana ( sana at gmail dot com ) | NOT RESOLVED: Database Connectivity
UPDATE 11:55 EST
Our Network operations team was able to identify and resolve the conflict causing this problem. Going forward, we may need to restart some of the SQL servers to completely resolve this issue, but that should only cause a brief period of time when your site cannot connect to your database. Thank you for your patience as we work to fully restore service.
We are currently aware of an issue affecting database connectivity. If you use a database, you may see an error on your site regarding an inability for your site to connect to your database. Our engineers are aware of the problem and are working to identify the root cause. We will update this alert with new information as it becomes available.

November 19, 2009 SodaWerks ( info[at]sodawerks[dot]net ) | Before FatCow was bought by a corporation, the hackers there were okay.
NOW - this is the biggest, fraud and scam webHosting site on the market.
Do NOT store your credit card info on their site, I have caught several of their employees using my credit card info, and they go after your CC details very aggresively, presume this is India doing this aspect, as the CC info is quickly sold.
TECH SUPPORT - useless BILLING - never understands the billing aspect SALES - will sale you anything but will not backup anything. ACCOUNT - billing and account are clues in each dept and with each other's dept.
I ended up having to file criminal charges against Eric in the Business Dept (MA) and Calvin the PHX call center (AZ) for return of my monies. I am fed up with corporations stealing my money, then refusing to return it, then if I finally get them on a tort in the law, then they fee up the refund where as I do not get my money.
saying CON ARTISTS, SCAMMERS, CROOKS, THIEVES means saying FATCOW

November 8, 2009 Jay ( djohnson2000(at)yahoo(dot)com ) | They are terrible!!! Very slow sites. Recently they had SQL problems and ended up deleting my sites database and then customer service told me I had never set up any tables in database and that was the cause of the problem. My site is still down while customer service has been looking into the problem for over 3 days. I told them I wanted to cancel and they said there will be a $35.00 cancellation fee. Stay away from this terrible hosting company!!!

November 4, 2009 J. Kirk ( jkirk(at)iquest(dot)net ) | FatCow is a Nightmare on Hosting Street. Four hours on the phone trying to get set up. Still not done. They have bills on my card for products that I don't have. Bank is now in pursuit and looking at the account.. I believeThey use manufactured names in customer service and billing. Caveat emptor. I now trying not to be a customer. Price seems to be negotiable depending on who you talk with. Like buying a used car.

October 24, 2009 Bojan ( bokivaol[at]gmail[dot]com ) | As a costumer of Fatcow I have to say that I am not so satisfy with Fatcow. I have big problem with sending emails. Sometimes I can sent few emails (up to 5) from my website (Fatcow WebMail) and after that I can not for more than one day, after that few of them and again more than a day nothing, awful. Their specialists give their best but almost 3 days I can not send the email promotions form my website. I have to say that for me as a costumer is a big problem, because I am losing without advertising. I am thinking of changing hosting provider, but I will wait for a few days.
